"THE LONE ISLANDS," CAPTAIN DRINIAN POINTED OUT. Caspian was stood to his left, looking through the spyglass he held, Edmund to his right. "The port of Narrowhaven."

Caspian lowered the spyglass, eyes remaining set on the island. "Strange, not a Narnian flag in sight."

I, stood just to Caspian's left, poked his shoulder.

He turned to look down at me with an inquisitive grin and a raised eyebrow.

"May I?" I gestured to the spyglass.

He nodded, handing it off to me.

I brought it up to my right eye, closing my left, and studied the island. It looked to be completely barren of people, which was also kind of disconcerting. "It seems..." I trailed off, lowering the spyglass as I searched for a word to describe the dreary vibe that the island gave me.

"Daunting?" Caspian said, looking down at me.

"Dead?" Edmund added, looking over as well.

I nodded after a moment, an apprehensive smile on my face before I handed Caspian the spyglass. He, in turn, passed it off to Drinian, who gave it to Edmund.

"But the Lone Islands have always been Narnia's," the youngest said, holding the spyglass with both hands. He brought it up to his eye, looking through it. It did indeed look dead, with nothing but the wind and sand rushing through the barren streets.

I glanced at him from around Caspian and Drinian before returning my concerned gaze back to the island. I leaned forward against the banister, my forearms pressed against its solid surface.

     "Seems suspicious," Captain Drinian commented.

Edmund lowered the spyglass. "I say we prepare a landing party."

From where I leaned against the banister, I noticed Tavros come up behind us.

"Drinian?" Edmund addressed the Captain, wondering what he thought of the suggestion.

I glanced at Drinian when he spoke.

"Forgive me, Your Majesty," he said, "but the chain of command starts with King Caspian on this ship."

The way I interpreted what Drinian said was that, even though he was the Captain of the Dawn Treader, he wasn't first in command because Caspian was, quite literally, the King.

"Right," Edmund replied, turning to look at Caspian.

"We'll use longboats," he decided, going along with Edmund's suggestion anyway.

I felt a subtle smile form on my face.

"Drinian, pick some men and come ashore." He turned to me. "You're coming with us, right? You don't have to, but you're welcome to."

I smiled, nodding. "Of course I'm coming. A little apprehension for the unknown isn't going to stop me."

Caspian smiled, before turning to the large Minotaur that'd joined us moments before. "Tavros." He walked past, knowing the Minotaur would know what to do.
