CASPIAN HELPED ME OUT OF THE BOAT once we came ashore as everyone else was departing it.

The wall of water was much more massive than it seemed from far away. There were no other words I could think of to describe its magnificence.

Clutching the strap of my satchel closely, I looked at the wall from left to right, taking in its size. It was flowing from the bottom up, and seemed to curve over at the top. The top dipped down a little, revealing what looked like mountain peaks beyond the massive water wave, before they were concealed once again as the water rose again.

"Aslan," I heard Eustace say, and looked at him to see where he was looking.

He was on the far left of us, and looking past us to our right. So, seeing where he was looking, we turned to indeed see the Great Lion walking up.

"Welcome, children," His deep, velvety voice rang out as He walked around to stand in front of us. "You have done well. Very well indeed. You have come far, and now your journey is at its end."

"Is this your country?" Lucy asked, briefly glancing at the wave.

"No," He replied. "My country lies beyond."

The top of the wave dipped once again, revealing another mountain peak.

"Is my father in your country?" Caspian asked, and I couldn't help seeing my parents flash through my mind.

Oh, how it stung at how much I missed them.

"You can only find that out for yourself, my son," the Great Lion answered. "But you should know that if you continue, there is no return."

Suddenly, I realized something. Heaven. That's what it reminded me of. If one ascended over the wave, one went to Heaven. Does that mean that, if one went over, he or she would die?

I looked at Caspian as he walked toward the water, growing concerned he would leave. I knew he loved his father, and I do my own, but... it stung to think that he might just leave after everything. I love him too much to bear the thought of that happening.

I wrung my fingers together as I watched him approach the wave, submerging his hand partly through and letting the water run over his skin.

My heart pounded, and Lucy rubbed my shoulder. I glanced at her for a brief second before looking back at Caspian. However, I tilted my head when he turned back around and stepped toward us.

     "You're not going?" Edmund asked.

"I can't imagine my father would be very proud that I gave up what he died for," the King responded, and I could tell he was on the verge of tears. "I spent too long wanting what was taken from me and not what was given. I was given a kingdom. A people." He glanced at me as I held my own hands tightly. "Someone to love, who came from a different world."

I covered my mouth as my nose stung with the threat of tears.

He walked toward Aslan. "I promise to be a better king."
