NOW I KNEW WHY THE LAST FLASH in my dream was green; it was because of my eyes. They were green. Caspian told me his favorite color was green, once he'd seen my eyes up close after he'd saved me from that man on that awful island.
My eyes were already closed, never having opened yet, but they squeezed shut further. I was fully awake, now. I was aware of Caspian leaning over me, and Edmund crouched next to him.
"Come on, let's go to the others, Angel," Caspian whispered, he and Edmund helping me stand up on shaky legs.
"Up you go, Gracie," Edmund whispered.
I opened my eyes a little, having a little difficulty now that the morning sun was out. The two boys helped me walk over to where the others were, and I quickly forgot the dream I had when I saw what was going on. There seemed to be some... smaller people with one leg and a particularly large foot attached. It surely was an interesting sight to see fresh out of a nightmare-riddled sleep.
Captain Drinian was beyond relieved to see that I was unharmed and okay - just very tired, stressed, and a little disoriented. And confused. Very confused. However, he focused back on the chief, not moving his sword from its spot on the little guy's neck.
I couldn't for much longer pay attention to anything but my own pounding heart and the image of his face flashing in my mind, dark and bright with flashes of red making him look menacing. My breathing picked up and my eyes welled up with tears again, and I felt the familiar stinging pain in my lip that my teeth biting at the skin caused. I licked the sore spot and tasted blood. I'd done it again.
Edmund and Captain Drinian continued to interrogate the chief of the weird, small creatures while Caspian turned to me with his arm still around my waist.
"Hey, Angel, you're okay," he said, placing his free hand on the side of my face, holding it so I'd look at him. "It was just a nightmare." He paused for a moment. "Was it about him?"
I nodded silently.
He sighed, moving his hand to the back of my head and pulling me into a tight embrace. I snaked my arms around his middle, gripping the fabric of his shirt tight enough to where my knuckles turned white.
My breathing was shaky, but I refused to cry again, not now. That could wait until I had a moment of solitude when we were back on the Dawn Treader. I just honed in on Caspian's warmth and comfort, letting it calm my aching heart and mind.
I let my forehead rest against the warmth of his neck, letting the feeling of his thumb rubbing back and forth on my back soothe my mind.
I felt a warm grip on my hand and turned to see Gael. She smiled at me, and I couldn't help but return it.
Caspian removed his hand from my head to pull her into the embrace, and the small girl and I laughed. He placed a kiss to the crown of my head, before letting Gael and I go. He kept his arm around my shoulders and we followed him to where we were just stood behind Edmund.
"What mansion?" he said, having responded to something the chief said. That seemed to be where Lucy was, but there was nothing there.
