BACK IN MY FAVORITE SPOT, I WAS sat on the Dawn Treader's head with Caspian next to me.

He had noticed that my hand and face had dried blood before we boarded the ship, so he decided to patch them up once we got on and had proper medical supplies.

As he wiped the blood from my hand, he chuckled.

"What?" I grinned, wincing a little as my palm stung.

"Oh, nothing," he muttered with another chuckle, "just the fact that you seem to be prone to getting hurt all the time. I'm always tending to your wounds."

"I guess you're right," I agreed, smiling. "I did get hurt a lot as a kid... but strangely never broke any bones. Just cuts and scrapes and bruises. Guess I never grew out of it."

He hummed. "You really must be careful, because I doubt you want to break your first bone any time soon."

I grinned. "Okay, dad," I snarked, earning a laugh. "But you're right; I dread to think of how painful it must be."

"Agreed."

I was silent, watching Eustace fly around the ship for a moment. "I do like when you tend to my wounds, though. Lets me know that you care."

He looked up. "Of course I do, Angel. I've never cared so deeply for someone in all my life. At least, not in this way."

"Not even for Susan?" I inquired, tilting my head, curious.

"No," he shook his head, placing the rag back in the bowl of water. "That was merely a brief crush. I didn't know her for very long, and we never really spoke as much in the beginning. We did like each other in the end, and we did share a kiss, but - as you know - she had never returned. So, the crush I had just kind of fizzled out." He looked up at me again with a smile. "And now you're here."

I looked down, unable to hold back the giant smile his words gave me. The fact that he and Susan kissed didn't bother me. I was actually quite happy that she had a connection - albeit brief - with someone.

"I'm going to apply the ointment, now, so it will sting a bit," he announced, and I was prepared for the painful sting when it came.

He bandaged my hand and moved onto the left side of my face, cleaning the blood and dirt from my skin before applying the ointment.

"Be careful not to touch anything to your face, okay? Let the ointment sit."

I nodded. "Thank you for doing this again, Cas."

He smiled at the nickname. "Of course, Love."

We shared a look of appreciation before turning to look at the horizon, only to see the dark green shroud in the distance.

"We should go down," I muttered.

"Yeah," he replied quietly, before he began gathering the medical supplies.

I helped, and once we got everything, we climbed down from the dragon head and joined the crew.

"The wind has left us," Captain Drinian said, noting how the air felt eerily still.
