Zane's POV

Everyone was out of the cave today, they had just left after talking to Red Tornado about why they were cooped up all week long without a mission to do. Lets just say they didn't like his response and bailed.

On the bright side I got to talk to everyone, especially Miss Martian, or Megan. She would always ask me questions about Earth, but I couldn't tell her much since I didn't know much either. I only knew some common things, but any cultural things...yeah I was lost.

Wally and Robin taught the three of us a lot with Kaldur joining in mostly to correct them or stop them from arguing.

At one point I told her about my missing past and she offered to 'look through' my memories to help me remember what was missing, but I... I just couldn't let her. I don't know why, I just felt scared to know the truth. I shouldn't be so why am I! I should be happy that someone is offering to help me since that's what I want. To know about my life.

I snapped out of it when I saw Red Tornado flying off in the direction of an exit to the cave. I was curious so I turned around on the sofa on my knees and arms resting on the back. I wanted to ask him where he was going, but normally when I try to start a conversation I feel my throat start to close up.

Red looked over his shoulder at me." I am off to attend something. I shall be back shortly, stay here." He turns back around and walks off as I turn and plop back down on the sofa with a small pout.

"It's not like I can go anywhere..." I mumbled under my breath.

I hear the tubes go off but I don't bother getting up, he probably thinks the others are here since he 'probably' doesn't know they ditched this place.

"I would like to have a conversation with you." I look up to see Batman standing in the doorway with his 'normal?' face and arms crossed.

"Okay... about what." I ask, tucking my feet under me.

" I want to understand more about why you were at Cadmus and to make certain things clear." I nod at him and he walks over and sits in the arm chair across from me.

" I honestly don't know why I was there. I woke up in a room with people around me, they would only tell me my first name and they were vague about my age. I just know that I was there for a few years, maybe 3 or 4 and they knew who I was so I never questioned it." I say as I start pulling my hands into my jacket sleeves. I didn't get a new squish toy when we went out to get clothes so this is the next best thing.

"Hn... I will try my best to look into it for you then, and see what I can find. Also I also need to clear things up since the boys seem to think that we are treating you like Cadmus. While you may not be joining the team on missions you can still help out around the cave and you are free to leave to go out. However, you must always be with somebody from the League or your teammates, just until we figure out who was behind Cadmus to begin with, understand?"

I nod "okay, thanks."

"You don't have to thank me for treating you like a person." He says standing up to leave.

"Okay." I say under my breath.

The group got back with Red Tornado and they were mid conversation.

"Is that why you wouldn't help us?" Megan questions him.

"No," He starts. " This was your own battle. I do not believe I should solve your problems for you, 'nor should you solve mine."

They come over to the sitting area slowly trying to settle in.

"But if you're in danger..." Megan starts.

"Consider this matter closed." And with that Red starts to walk off.

"We all know who would have jumped in and helped." Wally says, crossing his arms and leaning on the arm of the sofa I'm on.

"hn, Guess if we're gonna have a babysitter, a heartless machine is exactly what we need." Robin says out loud only for Wally to stand up straight and elbow him.

"Dude! Harsh."

"And inaccurate." Red says making both boys stop and look at him." I have a heart, Carbon-steel alloy. I also have excellent hearing."

Robin lets out a small chuckle." Right, I'll strive to be... more accurate."

Kaldur steps up and puts his hand on Robin's shoulder." And more respectful."

Red Tornado leaves on that note and the boys turn to me.

"So how was your day?" Robin asks, and I just give him a shrug.

"Normal." He gives me a smirk as they go head off to their rooms and I slouch back down on the sofa.

Mount Justice; July 22nd, 8:00pm

The team had left out for the night on another mission.

'I guess I'm gonna have to get used to that, huh?' I didn't mind being alone, I found comfort in it at Cadmus since I could sit around and do nothing. But with this group, I just want to be around them all the time and experience some sort of normality.

I got bored of sitting around so I would walk around and teach myself things in the cave. I taught myself really basic cooking recipes and some baking ones, but by basic I mean REALLY basic, I'm not that skilled as I almost caused the smoke alarm to go off once.

So now with my free time I'm just laying on the floor as a starfish waiting for them to get back like some sort of pet waiting for their owner to get back home. I just felt so lost as to what to do. Maybe I should find a hobby?

I heard the Zeta Tube go off, but it didn't do that thing where that lady spoke to tell me who it was.

I let it be for a while. Whoever it was would just find me here anyways.

I got sick of waiting.'Did something get stuck or is it an animal.' I ask myself as I sit up from the floor going to go check it out. It was something to do at least.

As I turned the corner into the Zeta Tube room I still saw nothing.

"Hello?" I call out into the big seemingly empty room."I-Is someone here?" Still no response. I must have been losing my mind.' Did I miss hear?'

I shrug it off and turn back to the sitting area only to be met with a tall figure standing in my way. For whatever reason I froze, I couldn't think of what to do. How did this person get here?Who were they? The team just left out, the only one that should still be here is Red Tornado. But this sure isn't him.

I go to take a step back to put distance between whoever this person was, but they grab my arm in a painful grip. I wince and I grab their arm back trying to pry it off and when I looked up at them I saw a middle aged man with dark eyes staring down at me. It almost looked like he didn't even get enough sleep to be up and about.

I think what startled me more was the fact that he hadn't said anything since getting here, like he was in deep thought the whole time all while being in pilot mode.

"Your eyes are too much like hers...why didn't you join her?"

'Huh?' My eyes? What about them?

Suddenly I was engulfed in red and ripped out of the man's grasp as I was dragged to the other side of the room.

I was softly put down on the ground confused as to what happened. I had looked up and saw Red Tornado descending through a room? at the top of the cave.

"I do not believe you have authorization to this place. As the den mother I would have to ask you to please leave."
