Fitz's POV
I heard Sophie scream. She woke up, beads of sweat on her face.
"Sophie, what's wrong?" I ask, while she hugs me, burying her head in the crook of my neck.
"I had a nightmare," I heard her mutter.
"Was it about your dad?" I asked, feeling her nod. I rub her back and kiss her temple.
"H-He was gone, it was terrible," she said once we broke apart.
"Sophie, it was only a nightmare," I whispered.
"But it felt so real," I nodded my head, hugging her again.
"I know it did, but you're dad is going to be fine, he's going to make an amazing recovery and everything will be back to normal." I whisper, rubbing her back, resting my chin on the top of her head.
"What time is it now?" I checked my watch for a second.
"6:30," I answer.
"Already? I've slept for an hour and a half?" She said, breaking apart. I nodded my head.
"Why don't you wash up and then we can start getting ready to go?" A small smile appeared on her face and she got up, going to the bathroom. I went to change the shirt I was wearing and by then Sophie had looked much better.
We both put on our shoes and headed out of the apartment to the hospital. It had been a 25 minutes ride, so we arrived at 7 on the dot. We both went to the lady at the front desk.
"What room is Grady Ruewen in?" Sophie asked. I froze. Grady Ruewen and Edaline Ruewen? Shit. That's why the last name sounded familiar. I didn't know Sophie was their daughter. When they see me, he's going to know I'm not Alvar.
Grady and Edaline were a great friend of my parents and we've seen each other loads of times. I knew I wasn't going to get out of this one.
"Alvar?" Sophie snapped her fingers in front of my face, making me pay attention again.
"Yeah?"
"Let's go," I nodded my head and we went to the elevator waiting for it to arrive. Once it did Sophie pressed the number 3 and we soon arrived shortly. We walked down the hall and soon I saw Edaline sitting in a chair outside Grady's room. Sophie ran to her mom, hugging her.
"Sophie... I'm so glad you came!" Edaline said, a small smile growing on her face.
"What happened?" Sophie asked. Thankfully she hadn't noticed me.
"I was on call with him and everything had been fine, until I hear a crash from the other side of the phone. I called his name several times, not hearing anything. I call the cops and an ambulance of course and it turns out he was in an accident. By the time they called me back, he was already in here." She explained. I saw Sophie freeze. I wasn't sure why but I saw Edaline look at me, and she got up and hugged me.
"Oh Fitz! It's been so long! My, you've gotten taller!" Edaline said. Sophie stood up confused.
"That's Alvar," Edaline rose an eyebrow, looking between us.
"No this is Fitz. Alvar's his older brother, the one your dating." Sophie opened her mouth but before she could say anything, a doctor came out the room. After he explained Grady's injuries and talking about his vitals and stuff, Sophie dashed in the room, closing the door behind her.
"I'm confused. Why did she think you were Alvar?" Edaline asked.
"Uh, it's a long story," she crossed her arms.
"I have nothing else to do," I sighed and started telling her about the fact that me and Alvar switched but nothing else.
"Now I know I'm not your mother, but you've broken Sophie's heart. How could either you or Alvar want to do this?" I looked down, embarrassed.
"I know, we were dumb and we should've never done that her. I know Sophie's an amazing girl, Alvar's lucky to have her." Her face expression softened when I said that.
"You seem to care a lot about her."
"I do." I say, my face flustered.
"Who else knows?" She asked.
"My sister and my best friend, Keefe." She nodded her head slowly and sat down, looking at the ground. We hadn't said much afterwards and we waited for Sophie to leave which took about 45 minutes.
"Are you going to head home sweetheart?" Sophie nodded and without looking at me and headed to the elevator.
"Do you think I could go before you? It won't take long." Edaline nodded and I headed inside. I wasn't sure what to say though. I had said a few kind words (even though he couldn't hear me) and left the room. After saying bye to Edaline I went down to the parking lot and saw Sophie standing.
I walked up to her.
"Sophie?" She didn't look at me. "Please talk to me."
"There's nothing to say." She answered.
"Yes their is. I'm sorry. I wanted to tell you, I swear, but I just couldn't find the right time to tell you. Sophie, I just want to let you know, I care about you a lot. I think you're an amazing, intelligent, loving, gorgeous girl and I know you probably won't forgive, and I don't blame you." I started to walk away when she stopped me.
"Wait!" I look behind my shoulder and stop.
"I'm sorry too. I blame myself. I should've noticed when you walked through the door the first time. You looked so much more different. But really, I didn't care because I didn't want a good thing go away." I raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"What do you mean?"
"Alvar... I'll admit, he wasn't the best boyfriend. He wouldn't help around the house, was gone almost all day, and he didn't really treat me all that well. And I had talked to him about it, so when you were treating me with kindness and care, I had thought maybe he changed, but I guess not. But... I'm also mad at myself for falling in love with you."
"I love you too Sophie." She ran up to me, wrapping her arms around my waist and kissed me. But it was different. One where it had a lot of passion and love in it. Sophie smiled and I set her down and we broke apart.
"I dated the wrong brother," I heard her mutter under her breath. I chuckled and kissed her again, this time much more shorter.
"So what happened with Alvar and everything? Why did he ask for you to switch?" Sophie asked. Hand in hand we walked to my car, and I explained everything to her. She took in a deep breath when she unlocked the door to the apartment.
"Well, I guess if the two of you hadn't switched I wouldn't have found the love of my life," I smiled, kissing her forehead.
"Fitz?" I was glad she was finally using my real name.
"Yeah?"
"When you switched, why did you take me out on dates and treat me like I was your actual girlfriend?"
"I honestly was just thinking how Alvar would treat you. Take you out on a small dates, cook and bake, treating you with the love and affection you deserve, that's all the things I thought he did for you." She nodded her head.
"So... what does this make us?" She askes.
"I don't know. If you want to take things slow, I'll wait for you I'll be fine with that." She smiled but shook her head.
"Nah." She pulled me into a kiss, cupping my cheeks, while I rested my arms around her waist. I was very glad that Sophie knew who I actually was.
