Felix had no idea how he would confess. He had a feeling that Changbin liked him back but Jeongin could have easily been feeding him lies in order to make a fool of him. He hoped that this one time, the maknae was a good friend and told him accurate information. Jeongin had been talking to Chan a lot more frequently these days so hopefully their bond was strong enough that Chan was delivering reliable information about his best friend that Jeongin would be able to, not so subtly, spill to Felix.

On the other hand, Changbin was going into full gay panic mode. Felix was driving him insane. He wanted nothing more than to kiss that boy on the mouth and be able to do so whenever he wanted, telling him how proud of him he is and how much he admired him. Changbin was a fool. A fool deeply and madly in love with a boy who held all the constellations in the night sky on his face, a boy who was not afraid to be himself and a boy who had the warmest heart that impacted all those he made contact with. He wanted Felix. But he didn't know if Felix felt the same.

Lunch by Changbin's mum nearly brought a tear to Felix's eyes, his mouth swelling with flavours that he hadn't tasted since his own mothers passing.

"Oh dear I do hope it's to your liking," Mrs Seo said to Felix.
"Of course it is! It's just like my mums."

"Ah I'm glad you could get a taste of your family here. Speaking of which, what do your parents do?"

It was supposed to be a harmless question but Changbin's eyes shot up to Felix's who were slowly glossing over.

"Well, my dad lives in Australia and he works as a mechanic. My mum passed away about a year ago to cancer."

"Oh dear, I'm sorry, I had no idea."

"That's okay. You didn't know."

It was difficult to describe the atmosphere of the room. Tense? But everyone was still eating and joking with each other. There was just a soft blanket of discomfort that hung over the four people. Lunch concluded quickly and Changbin shot up out of his chair.

"Me and Felix will go work on the garden while you guys wash up if that's okay?" Changbin asked his mum.

"Sure baby, the tomatoes need a bit more water and I think some of the capsicums are ready to be picked."

"We'll do that right away," Changbin said, grabbing Felix's hand and dragging him outside, instantly smacking into him with a bone crushing hug.

"I'm so sorry Lix, I should have told her," Changbin whispered quietly into the other's ear.

"It's okay Binnie, she didn't know," the taller replied, trying his best not to alert Changbin of the cracks in his voice. The way Changbin squeezed him tighter suggested that Changbin had heard them anyway. Sobbing into Changbins broad shoulder, Felix just cried, grabbing desperately at the shirt the older wore as if his white knuckles would make the pain of loss disappear.

After the pair had stayed like that a while, Felix pulled away, face puffed up and red. He gave Changbin the sweetest smile he had ever seen and it made his heart pump faster and faster until it was racing. He grabbed Felix's face and wiped the tears from under his eyes.

"I'm sorry love," Changbin let out before he could stop himself.

"It's okay, now let's wrangle this garden shall we?"

"Okay."

What an altruistic boy.
