Peter Parker sat in the quiet of the church. He had grown up in church because he went with May and Ben all the time, but after Ben had died he just quit. It wasn't that he was mad at God more than he was mad at himself, but in all the imperfections of his life he had thought his life was pretty perfect.

It also had come up in his mind whether he blamed God for his powers. He wasn't one to believe in the supernatural anyway, because his mind was always focused on science, but a spider giving him superpowers was pretty crazy. It had completely turned him on his head about how the world worked. But around the same time, other superheroes began to pop out of nowhere.

The Richards Expedition under the Baxter Foundation ended up giving four people superpowers. One of them, Johnny Storm, used to go to Midtown with him, MJ, Harry, and Gwen. At one point, he was even a big part of their friend group until he decided to drop out his junior year, the same time that Peter got bit by the spider. He dropped out because his superpowers were just a little too dangerous; specifically he could light himself on fire. No wonder the papers called him "The Human Torch". Peter texted him from time-to-time or would just catch up with him and how he was doing. It was helpful for them to know that both of them had freak accidents that gave them superpowers.

About a year or two ago, it came out that Xavier's School for the Gifted was actually a safe-haven for mutants. Mutants had been known by the public for years, but they were often outed by the public as freaks because of some gene within their body, which apparently Charles Xavier, who also was a mutant as well believe it or not, called the "X" gene. Apparently it was a genetic mutation that was carried through males that allowed people to be born with extraordinary powers. It was utter insanity to think about, because like how could it possible, but also how could Peter deny the truth. After all, he had powers too.

Then everyone started popping up. One guy showed up who was apparently possessed by the Spirit of Vengeance and he could light himself on fire, then there were these twins who went from the X-Men to the Avengers and one was apparently a witch and the other could run super fast. Another guy was sent into the wilderness to kill a giant green monster and a bunch of creatures that were possessed by the spirit of cannibalism because the guy's skeleton was made of metal and he had claws in his hands as well.

The world, in better terms, got weird.

So Peter had made up his mind. He did not hate God for what happened to him. Somehow, it actually got him closer with God because he saw it like a gift that was given to him to help people. But, strangely enough, there wasn't much he could thank God for anymore other than his wife, Mary Jane.

Mary Jane and Peter married shortly after Harry and Liz, that is Liz Allen, got married. They decided that they were prepared to live together and wanted to be joined forever. Harry, at that time, was just beginning to get into his addiction of drugs and had a seizure during the wedding, which how most people would see it certainly make it a memorable wedding. At that time, Liz was pregnant with their child, Billy. Billy was now four, and what a scary thought that was for Peter. Time always just went fast now he was twenty-four. All he had to work on was his photography for the Bugle and providing for his wife, who was now pregnant. In three months, she was to give birth to a girl, who they had both decided to name "May." She had gotten a job as a journalist at the Bugle the past few years, and she was a good one too. Of course, her pregnancy got her working from home, but she did not complain one bit.

Peter had now shifted to only working for the Bugle, that is the Daily Bugle, now because of his falling out with Harry within the last few years due to Harry's increasing drug problem. Peter, when he worked for Oscorp with Harry, never accepted pay because he didn't want to be paid for helping people, especially since Peter worked directly with Curt and Otto during those days. It was a privilege to simply work with them directly. On paper, it was stated that Peter was their boss, but in reality he worked for them. Also on paper, it was said that Peter was co-CEO of Oscorp at one point, but Harry kept all the stock for himself, which also added more animosity to their relationship. It turned out, unfortunately, that Harry was planning on kicking Peter from the company once he had made enough money. He had been funding Spider-Man's tech ever since his dad was locked up in the Raft, and it was losing the company a lot of money. Harry counted his losses and saw that he had to boot his best friend. Although Liz resented Harry heavily, for that and for the drug use, she never divorced him. She stuck by him through it all.
