The Shocker and his crew of three had knocked over ten banks in less than a month. Herman Shultz was the greatest safecracker that anyone had ever known, and he was even more so with his gauntlets. He had created them in order to be a mercenary, but he always lusted after money first. With the shockwaves that radiated from his gauntlets he could grab, pull, repulse, electrocute (that is "shock", duh) anything he aimed them at. If he wasn't a criminal, he could probably been a scientist, but of course that wasn't fulfilling to him.
No one was there at that time. It was dark. Very, very dark.
There was the safe, the vault, in the middle of the bank. The large crank door with a combination stood before them. Herman looked at it and chuckled. "Alright, boys," he said cautiously, "back up." He activated his gauntlets and gripped the safe door with a great electromagnetic force. Slowly, but surely, the vault door began to break off of its hinges. The building rumbled as the door tore off of the bricks. Bolts flew everywhere, but the crew knew that it came from the job, and they ducked their heads when their boss began his work. They also took to wearing pretty thick clothing. It made sure that they weren't going to get electrocuted by their own leader, much like their boss made a suit to protect himself from his own gauntlets. His suit was thick yellow rubber to insulate him from the electricity with red bullet proof outlining to stop himself from getting shot by cops. Shocker was always prepared.
Finally, the door completely came off of the walls. Using his gauntlets, he repulsed it over to the side, and it stuck into the side wall over beside them. He chuckled, as well as his crew did, when they saw the massive amounts of money that laid before them. They had amassed around thirty 120 million from their robberies, and this one was going to be just as sweet.
"Alrighty, boys," Herman said, "dig in. As much as you can carry. I'm on Spider duty." He walked away from the vault and let his crew begin to get money. He stayed on lookout while his men did the dirty work.
The crew members ran in and began to load their duffle bags up with as much cash as they could. One crew member spoke up. "I can't believe that the Spider hasn't caught us yet! We've gotta be untouchable."
"How about you just shut up and start loading your bag with money, dude," another said. "You're gonna friggin jinx us the more you talk about the masked idiot."
"Oh you just have no confidence in yourself, man. Just admit to yourself that we're untouchable and we're okay! Like what's the worst that can happen? We've robbed ten banks now, and got just millions of dollars under us, brother. Get it through your head: we're the new face of crime in New York!"
"Shut up and stuff your bags!" Herman shouted.
The third crew member finished stuffing his bag. "Alright, I'm full," he said. "I'm headed to the van." He lit out and began to run to the van outside of the bank, past his boss. Suddenly, a white streak came out of nowhere and hit him.
A scream.
He disappeared.
The other two crew members immediately got thrust into fear. It had happened so fast that Herman didn't even have time to respond. The Spider was fast...very fast. The last two crew members drew their glocks and began to slowly step out of the vault.
Herman looked around the bank, but it was too dark. He couldn't see where his man went, and his echo in the large bank didn't allow him to understand where his screams came from. He turned to his remaining two crew members. "Both of you get out here, now!"
The one who was bragging earlier was now shaking. They both stepped out of the vault. "Boss, I really don't like--" Suddenly a web hit him in the chest a pulled him to the roof. Herman could see the web sling him to the corner of the ceiling. He let a large electric blast let loose to that corner. The large bright yellow light lit up the room, but when it hit the corner, there was no one there.
