Chapter: 24

"Again!" Wei (Y/n) called out to the disciples as they repeated the steps she taught them. She stood in front of them but in a different posture, than she usually was. This time her sword was not in her hand but rather she held the fan, fanning herself lightly. Lifen stood next to her mother looking at the disciples and wanting so badly to join them.

Lifen tugged on her robes and (Y/n) looked at her. "Māma..." Lifen said quietly and (Y/n) hummed. "I want to train too..." She pouted and Wei (Y/n) chuckled. The disciples looked at her for a moment before continuing what they were before.

"A-Fen, You are too young. You can't train yet." (Y/n) told her daughter and she nodded pouting. She stood still for a moment before she turned, "I'm going to Grandma!" She declared and ran inside. Wei (Y/n) shook her head and turned to the training disciples.

After a few moments, Jiang Cheng came out. The disciples immediately stopped and saluted him with perfect synchronization. "Continue," Jiang Cheng said. He stood next to Wei (Y/n) and sighed. The slightly older female turned to him. "What bothers you, Jiang Cheng?" She asked and he looked at her with furrowed brows.

"I was told just now... The leaders from the smaller sects have arrived. They were supposed to come the day after tomorrow. Today I was to visit Sect Leader Lan in Gusu as we had scheduled a meeting about setting both of the Sect's further reforms." He huffed and (Y/n) pursed her lips. "I just don't know what to do now...." He sighed again and looked at the disciples.

(Y/n) thought for a moment and an idea flashed in her mind. "I can go to Gusu on your behalf and you can see to things here?" She offered and Jiang Cheng looked at her with slightly wide eyes. "I wouldn't want to burden you (Y/n)-Jie.." He started but (Y/n) waver her fan in dismissal.

"It is no problem." She smiled lightly. "Thank You (Y/n)-Jie." Jiang Cheng said with a smile and Wei (Y/n) nodded to him. Jiang Cheng turned and walked in the opposite direction to the one he had come from.

Wei (Y/n) smiled behind her fan. She was happy to help her younger brother. He had so much burden put on his shoulders after his father's death. And...There was no harm in admitting to herself that she was eager to meet a certain smiling Leader. She closed her fan with a snap and held up her hand.

The disciples stopped and stood in perfect lines. "You are all free to go now. But remember to practice the area you lack in, give it your all and you will succeed. Dismissed." She said in a neutral tone and the disciples bowed to her. "Good day to you Hexia-zun!" They said and she nodded and went inside. The disciples dispersed soon after she left.

Wei (Y/n) went to the place Madam Yu spent most of her time with Lifen these days. The Library. It wasn't as big as the Lan Clan's Library but still had many knowledgeable books. She stood in the doorway and smiled at what she saw.

Madame Yu was reading a book to Lifen who sat in her lap. (Y/n) knocked on the door and Madame Yu looked up. She smiled and motioned Wei (Y/n) inside. "Come join us A-(Y/n)." She said and (Y/n) compiled going in. She sat opposite Madame Yu and fanned herself lightly. "What is A-Fen listening to?" She asked and Lifen smiled excitedly.

"Grandma was telling me about the Sects!" Lifen answered and (Y/n) nodded. "And what does A-Fen think?" She asked. "The Wen's are bad people...." She mumbled "...And I want to go to Gusu! I want a forehead ribbon too!" She exclaimed and both the women laughed at her words.

"A-Fen...You know what my Master taught me?" Wei (Y/n) asked with a smile and Wei Lifen shook her head. Yu Ziyuan watched the exchange with a smile.

"My Master told me that 'The Mirror holds two faces: the illusion you see and the lie you perceive. Look upon both before you choose what to believe.'" Wei (Y/n) said and Lifen stared at her with her big brown eyes wide. Trying to think of the words to make sense to her.

(Y/n) laughed lightly. "You'll understand when you get older.." She said and Lifen nodded with a smile leaving Madame Yu's lap and going to sit next to Wei (Y/n). "...Though your wish to visit Gusu might come true." (Y/n) said with a smile and Lifen looked at her with wide eyes.

"Really?" She questioned and Wei (Y/n) nodded. "How about you go to Yinzhu and ask her to get you ready?" Wei (Y/n) asked and Lifen nodded standing up with a bright smile and waving to Madame Yu before leaving.

"Gusu?" Yu Ziyuan questioned and Wei (Y/n) nodded explaining the whole situation. "A-(Y/n)...Just be careful. It's the first time you are taking A-Fen this far.." She advised and Wei (Y/n) nodded with a smile. "I'll be leaving soon. Please excuse me, I have to prepare and discuss some things with Jiang Cheng before I take my leave." She said and stood up bowing her head lightly.

Yu Ziyuan smiled looking at her back. I could have told her. But it is best to wait till she comes back. I feel something might happen in Gusu... She said as she picked another random book to read. Almost immediately she threw away the book. Her brow twitched at the content within the book. ​​​​I swear this boy... This is the last time I'm letting him enter the Library!

"Come on A-Fen...don't let go of my hand." (Y/n) instructed her daughter as she led her through the busy streets of the village. Though many people stared at her because they recognized her. Well, how could they not? Her name had come to be known almost everywhere. What they didn't understand was the little girl holding onto her hand.

"When will we be there?" Wei Lifen pouted and (Y/n) laughed lightly, and turned a bit to smile at her. "We'll be there soon A-Fen." As Wei (Y/n) turned, she collided with a firm chest.

Wei (Y/n) staggered but balanced herself and backed up to look at the person. The person was wearing all white with a white cloth tied around his eyes. Wei (Y/n) couldn't put a pin on it but the person seemed very much familiar. Like someone, she was close to.

Before she could say anything, the man spoke "Please forgive me Miss..." He said and an apologetic smile spread on his lips. Wei (Y/n) stood there with wide eyes. His voice! Can it...

"Big Brother XingChen...." She whispered but the man heard her. Judging from the changed expression on his face.

"A-(Y/n)?" He questioned quietly and (Y/n) gasped. It is Big Brother!
