Swords clashing, shouts and pained grunts were heard in Nevernight. The sound of Wei Ying's flute was above all as he tried to make way to his sisters. Jiang Yanli was running ahead and Wei (Y/n) was trying to make way towards her sister.

"A-Xian!! A-Cheng!!" Jiang Yanli called, she wanted to see her brothers safe. She didn't want to see a single scratch on them. It wasn't their fault. It wasn't Wei Ying's fault either. She knew this. He would never do something like that.

"Shijie!! Wei Ying!!" At her loud call Jiang Yanli stopped, turning to face the way from where the younger was running to her. "A-(Y/n)!! You silly girl!" Jiang Yanli cried worried, looking at her but Wei (Y/n) smiled that her sister noticed her.

The sound of the flute changed, becoming more shrill than before. Wei (Y/n) stopped dead in her tracks. It wasn't her brother's flute. Someone else was playing to control the spirits. And they did, the spirits began going in the dead bodies turning them into the blood thirsty puppets they had fought in the Sunshot campaign.

Wei (Y/n) took out her sword slashing the first one that came running to her. Lan Xichen on the other hand was surrounded by puppets and he desperately cut through them wanting to make way to his wife as soon as possible. She wasn't strong enough to keep fighting for long. With the complications she had during birth of Lan Zhixin, he was really worried.

Jiang Yanli didn't notice the dead body behind her began to rise sword in its hand.

"Shijie!"

"A-Jie!!"

"Shijie!! Look out!!"

Her three siblings did however notice and they yelled. But Jiang Yanli turned to face Wei Ying who was motioning her frantically to run. It was only then she turned and noticed the puppet. Her eyes widened as she tried to run but the puppet raised it's sword and brought it down on her back.

She stumbled due to the force of the attack and fell forward, some blood coming out of her mouth. Wei (Y/n)'s eyes widened, filled with tears as she ran to her, slashing puppets in her way. But Jiang Cheng had reached there first and so did Wei Ying.

Jiang Cheng cradled her body softly. "A-Jie.. It alright. Nothing will happen.. Just a small scratch." He whispered holding her gently and she smiled at him. "I'm fine A-Cheng..." She said softly. Wei Ying came near reaching out his hand but in the moment's pressure, Jiang Cheng pushed him away slightly. "Wei Ying!! Do something! Why can't you control them?!" He yelled and Wei Ying cried. "Its not me... I didn't.. I don't know!" His tears fell freely as he sobbed.

Jiang Yanli turned to Jiang Cheng forcing out a small chuckle, "Don't fight..." She chided softly as she always did and turned to Wei Ying raising a hand to his face, she stroked it softly.

"You ran so fast... I didn't see you properly..." She whispered looking at her brother with tender eyes while he himself cried out. "Shijie.." Wei (Y/n) had finally made it to them and fell on her knees. Jiang Cheng who only noticed her now gasped "What are you doing here-?!" "Let me heal her.." She said urgently cutting him off, tears visible on her face.

Wei Ying wanted to say something to het but refrained from doing so and Let her heal their sister. "A-(Y/n).. Why are you here?" Jiang Yanli asked as she was healed and the girl in question sniffled. "Nothing... Thought I'd see you all.." She said halfheartedly.

Lan Xichen was almost near her just a few more paces and he would reach her. Wei (Y/n) smiled as Yanli's wound healed "You're fine...You're okay.." She whispered in relief. She looked up and smiled at Wei Ying who was in front of her, in an attempt to reassure him.

But her smile faltered when she saw the raised sword behind Wei Ying. He was unaware, still focused on their sister. Without a second thought, Wei (Y/n) leaped forward, pushing him out of the way. The sword pierced through her chest, the blade protruding from her back as she gasped, blood spilling from her mouth.
