The very next morning, Madame Yu wrote a letter to Elder Lan informing him that they had accepted the proposal and the matter could proceed. Just as Madame Yu finished putting the letter in the envelope Wei (Y/n) spoke up. "I'll send the letter Madame Yu." The Elder smiled and nodded placing the letter in her hands. As (Y/n) disappeared out of the door Madame Yu shook her head fondly at the younger female. Everyone could see the shine in her eyes because of happiness and it made her family members glad, knowing she was content with accepting the marriage proposal.
Wei (Y/n) summoned a spirit Dove who flew in front of her. The dove's white feathers seemed to shine in the sunlight as she bowed her head. "What assistance can I offer Lady Wei?" She asked and (Y/n) smiled lightly holding out the letter. "Eva I need you to take this letter to Cloud Recesses specifically to Sect Leader Lan." The spirit dove bowed her head again and picked up the letter flying away. Wei (Y/n) heard footsteps behind her and she smiled as she saw that it was her brother. Wei Ying stood next to her on the docks and looked at his sister from the corner of his eyes.
"You look happy." He said after a moment and (Y/n) chuckled. "I am happy." She emphasized and Wei Ying smiled at her answer "I'm glad." He muttered. Wei Ying lifted his gaze to look at the Dove which was now almost indistinguishable from the white clouds.
"(Y/n)..." He called and she hummed not breaking her gaze from the tranquil scene. Wei Ying took a breath before he voiced his thoughts. "Mother and Father would be happy for you.." He said in a soft voice making (Y/n)'s eyes cast down. How wonderful could it have been if her parents were the ones who married her off? Not that she didn't take Madame Yu as a mother figure and her sworn siblings as her blood-related family. Even when she was in the Celestial mountains her Master was the mother figure and her martial siblings were there, Especially Xiao Xingchen They were a family. But still, she just couldn't help but feel a hole in her heart craving the love of a mother and the gentleness of a father. In her eyes, her brother was lucky to have memories even if they were vague. In the end, it was nothing more than a childish whim to be able to see her parents.
"Why did you get so gloomy all of a sudden? You shouldn't be sad!" Wei Ying said as he slung his arm over her shoulder making her scoff. "Who's gloomy?" She jabbed her elbow in his side lightly making him separate from her dramatically. "You even bully me! I'll tell Shijie!!" He threatened to make (Y/n) roll her eyes. For a moment they looked at each other then burst into laughter. It would have been quite a sight if someone saw her like this, she rarely smiled genuinely much less laugh. After both of them had calmed down they stood straight looking at the vast lake ahead of them, each of their faces supporting a smile.
"What did you want to say?" (Y/n) asked after a bit and Wei Ying looked at her. "Huh? Me?" he asked pretending to be clueless and (Y/n) sighed. "Yes. I can tell you wanted to say something." (Y/n) said and faced him. Wei Ying chuckled and shook his head. "How are you always able to tell?" He asked making (Y/n) smile. "I may not have lived with you our entire lives but during this time we have known each other, I've learned to read you as an open book." She said and Wei Ying sighed knowing his sister was correct. "I'm Just worried..." He said sitting down on the edge and dangling his feet down. (Y/n) followed suit and sat down next to him, "About what? You can always tell me you know..." She said and he nodded humming.
"Do you remember a few days after Jiang Cheng's succession ceremony I went to town?" He asked and (Y/n) nodded. "That day I met Sect Leader Lan there." He said and (Y/n) looked at him. "Lan Xichen? He came here?" (Y/n) asked and Wei Ying nodded. "Hmm. We were talking and I jokingly mentioned visiting Cloud Recesses to keep an eye on Lan Zhan while he mended the Lan's disciplines...And..." He sighed and began to spin his flute in his hands. (Y/n) placed a hand on his shoulder, "What happened?" (Y/n) asked in a low voice and he chuckled trying to light up the atmosphere. "Don't worry I didn't do anything to my Brother in Law." (Y/n) huffed hitting his shoulder. "Can you just tell me what he said?" She asked as her patience was thinning down little by little.
