Chapter: 21

Wei (Y/n) had just finished dressing when a knock sounded on the door. She opened the door to reveal Jiang Yanli, who was holding a small box. Jiang Yanli herself was ready. "Shijie. Is everyone ready to go?" Wei (Y/n) questioned and Yanli smiled shaking her head, "I just wanted to give you something." (Y/n) lead her inside and both of them sat on the bed. Yanli opened the box and handed the box to Wei (Y/n) who gasped.

"It's beautiful.." (Y/n) said softly, her hand tracing the beautifully crafted pin and Yanli's smile brightened "Well I'm really glad you liked it." She said and (Y/n) looked at her, "Is this for me?" Jiang Yanli chuckled and nodded, "Yes...Would you like me to do your hair?" Yanli questioned and (Y/n) nodded quickly, knowing she herself wasn't so great with hair styling.

Yanli motioned her to sit in front of her and the younger girl complied. Yanli began to comb through her hair and begins to braid some parts leaving others free. (Y/n) hummed in content. It had been long since last Yanli had done her hair, she was at ease and relaxed her shoulders.

The patter of small feet was heard along with someone's heavy breathing. "Māma!" Wei Lifen called as she ran inside and sat in front of (Y/n). "A-Fen! I told you, you have to go to Madam Yu!" Groaned Wei Ying's voice as he hunched to catch his breath. "No! I want to go with Māma and Autie and--" "Wei Lifen" She was cut off by Wei (Y/n) calling her name sternly.

Lifen looked at her with brown eyes wide with a pout, hoping for (Y/n) to fall for the trick but received a pointed look from her mother. "I told you this time you can not go. Now go with Uncle Wei." Wei (Y/n) said and Lifen looked down sadly."When will you come back?" She asked still gazing at her lap. "We'll be back at night dear.. Now go to Madam Yu, Maybe she'll take you to watch the training disciples!" (Y/n) said and Lifen perked up at the last part. She stood up and kissed (Y/n)'s cheek and waved to Yanli before skipping out with Wei Ying who sighed with relief sending a smile to his sisters before leaving.

jiang Yanli chuckled and (Y/n) tilted her head as she couldn't face her leading to Yanli straightening her head with a huff. "Why are you laughing?" (Y/n) questioned confused. "You make a great mother (Y/n)...The man you marry will be very lucky.." Yanli said softly and (Y/n) blushed red. Jiang Yanli saw her red ear tips and smiled teasingly even if (Y/n) couldn't see it. "Is there a man who has interested you?" She asked in a teasing tone.

A picture of a smiling Lan Xichen popped in (Y/n)'s head and she coughed awkwardly "N-no... Shijie why do you always ask me this?" (Y/n) said flustered and Yanli laughed. "Don't think I haven't noticed the glances you steal at Zewu-Jun," Yanli said as she stood up and stepped in front of (Y/n) holding her hands and helping her up.

"Shijie.." (Y/n) started but Yanli gently squeezed her hands, "I know A-(Y/n)... Just know whatever your choice is, it will be supported." Yanli said and raised her hand brushing a strand of hair behind (Y/n)'s ear. "We still have some time before we leave...Will you join me for a walk?" Asked Yanli as she walked towards the door. (Y/n) hummed quite confused not knowing what she meant by her choice being supported and took her sword following Jiang Yanli out.

"The Jiang Clan of Yunmeng has arrived!" A disciple announced the arrival as Jiang and Wei siblings entered leading the disciples. They exchanged salutes with Sect Leader Jin and Jin Guangyao. "Ah Welcome!" Jin Guangshan put on a smile, "Hexia-zun, thank you for your aid in the Sunshot campaign, You did well in slaying Wen Ruohan!" He said and Wei (Y/n) forced a smile. "You flatter me Sect Leader Jin, I only weakened him. It was Lianfang-Zun who delivered the final blow." She said as she glanced at Jin Guangyao. Jin Guangshan laughed and nodded turning to Jinag Cheng.

"Sect Leader Jiang is young and promising. After the Sunshot campaign, you have succeeded the past Sect Leader. Congratulations. When will the succession ceremony be held?" He asked and Jiang Cheng politely smiled. "Thank you Sect Leader Jin. I am still in mourning so it's not appropriate to hold the ceremony now.."
