Nishida's POV

Happy birthday Nishida.

Not being able to express how happy and surprised I was at the fact that he knew and at the fact that his birthday wish for me was a very good one, I threw myself into his arms.

"Thank you Lucas!" I gushed.

I then heard the sound of gates opening, and Lucas and I parted from the hug, with Lucas taking my hand instead.

"Come on, we'll be late!" he urged.

We practically ran into what seemed to be the compound's backyard, and Lucas said 'mahalo' to the person who opened the door as we ran past him. We got into the house, or hotel but I didn't quite have the time to look around because we ran instead of walking.

"Lucas, slow down a little! I'm wearing heels!" I giggled, as Lucas dragged me around tables and over rugs.

He slowed down, but it didn't quite make a difference. "We're gonna be late if we slow down!" he replied. Someone sweeping the house saw us coming and squealed as she stepped out of our way.

"I'll get you! Yes, I will!" she promised, making me laugh as Lucas apologized.

"How late are we? Did we miss a whole hour?" I panted as we reached the front door. I tried regaining my breath but didn't have enough time.

"We're just on time," Lucas replied, as he opened the double doors and we stepped outside.

"Whoa," I marvelled in a whisper as Lucas grabbed my hand and we resumed our run, albeit slower this time.

The place was amazing. There was an oval pool had beach chairs on and cabanas with open curtains on one side of the pool. On the other side were tables filled with a beautiful assortment of food and decorated with hula skirts.

But that was not the only thing that caught my attention. Coming from the opposite direction of where Lucas and I came, was Bel, holding Shizuki's hand as she ran and he followed. Bel gave me a knowing smile, and Shizuki's expression must have mirrored mine. Pure surprise. Lucas stopped running and gently pushed me to the front of the crowd while Bel did the same to Shizuki, and then they both were suddenly in the crowd. My explanations are long, but all this happened in a matter of seconds.

And then the crowd started singing as we faced them.

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, Shizuki and Nishida, happy..."

"Happy birthday," Shizuki whispered, leaning closer to my ear.

"Thanks. You too," I replied.

He nodded in thanks. The people had started singing in Japanese then. I noticed that one of the women had green hair— Jade! The woman sitting in front of me in the plane was Jade! How come I didn't know that?

"Did you know this would happen?" I whispered to Shizuki.

"I didn't. Well, Bel told me your birthday was coming up, but then she said it was cancelled, so I didn't know. She didn't even say it was today," he explained. I understood that Shizuki and I were the only people that knew nothing. About our birthday.

After the 'Happy Birthday' song was repeated in the Hawaiian language and in French, Bel and Lucas came to the front and stood next to us. Bel was holding a microphone, and she tapped her hand on it, checking if it was working well.

"Testing, testing..." she said into it. "Okay, one, two, three, hau'oli Hānau!" she yelled, and everyone repeated after her, good and bad accents together. I didn't even know which was the good accent.
