Discrimination Among the LGBTQ Community

Nowadays, people discriminate against people who have gender preference. Although it wasn't as bad as before, there were still people that weren't favorable to the LGBTQ Community.

What a fateful day for everyone, greetings, I am […]. I am here today to present my speech about "Discrimination Among the LGBTQ Community"

LGBTQ Community dates back to ancient civilization, until it carried on through centuries– resulting in shame, suppression, and secrecy.

The youths are most likely affected by the discrimination, not only caused by discrimination but also due to lack of support and guidance. Many people are guilty of discrimination against LGBT youths, whether consciously or unconsciously. LGBT youths are faced with daily discrimination from society, peers, family and even school teachers and administrations.

The above statistics not only show that LGBT youths lack support and guidance but also prove how much these youths are clearly affected, in more ways than one, by discrimination.

Some of the comments that LGBT youths are faced with are as follows:

“I hate gays. They should be banned from this country;”

“Get away from me, I can’t stand the sight of you;”

“These queers make my stomach turn.”

Those are only a few of the biased statements that LBGT youths are faced with in society.

Physical abuse against LGBT youths usually occurs due to disregarded harassment and the number of physical assaults that were faced by the youths resulting– an enormous psychological impact on them.

To come out as LGBTQ in an environment
like that, you would either have to be very brave or very foolish. It is not surprising that some gay people choose to stay silent and keep their true selves hidden. But the costs of silence and hiding are too great. There is evidence that, for gay men at least,
mental health improves after they come out.

It wasn't as bad to come out of the closet as long as the person itself is confident. Therefore, many people slowly accepted the LGBTQ Community. Many more LGBT youths aren't nervous to reveal their gender preferences, and it is a good thing, youths are more confident and strong. They believe in themselves and become more potent.

Once again, I am […], thank you for lending your ears to listen to my speech delivery.
