Sam's POV:
Today is my first day at my new job. I am assisting a new hobbit with her garden. I don't know her name, but I hear she's new around these parts, moving here from Bree. Its quite exciting, as we never have any new people even visit here! I mean- it's just the Shire?
Frodo and I had been talking about the newcomer earlier this week, discussing what we think she'll be like, what we think she'll look like.I make my way towards her home, smiling at a few of my fellow neighbours along the way. I came to her gate, opening it and walking up to her door. I looked down, making sure I've got everything before I start. Agreeing I have everything I need, I raise my fist, and three times on her door, making sure not to chip the new paint.
I hear footsteps inside, a few clashes and bangs, then finally she comes to the door and opens it with such force, a gust of wind blows my hair around.
I'm at lost for words. She is the most beautiful hobbit I've ever seen. Her piercing yet gentle eyes, a warm smile set on her face. Wow, she's perfect.
"Hi there!" She beams, raising her hand to me, "I'm Y/N."
"Samwise Gamgee, at your service." I smiled, shaking her hand. She wore a casual dress, her sleeves rolled up to her elbows. A blue apron hung round her waist, and was covered in baking powder. It wasn't hard to realise she had been cooking.
"Nice to meet you Mr Gamgee, come in." She said, stepping aside and letting me in. I could already feel the warm feeling of home engulf me, like a big hug around my body. The smell of homemade cookies and muffins filled my nostrils, my stomach close to rumbling. There were a few unpacked boxes scattered here and there, but not as many as I thought there would be. She must have unpacked most boxes the day she arrived.
"Please, call me Sam. It is a lovely place you have here, Miss Y/N." I said, looking up at the pictures of flowers and, what must be her family, hung up on the wall.
"Oh please- where's all this 'Miss' malarkey coming from, hey? It is just Y/N, okay? We're friends now! Well Sam, I hope you don't mind, but I'll be helping you with my garden, as I think it is a lovely day to plant some flowers and grow some fruit- don't you think?" She spoke, pulling my gently towards the window and showing me her near empty garden.
"That sounds great! When do you want to start then?" I asked her, turning to look at her flawless face.
"Well, I was thinking that maybe we could finish my baking first, and then after we could go out to the garden." She smiled, walking towards her kitchen.
"Sure! I must say, it does smell lovely in here, Y/N." I said, inhaling the amazing scent of cookie dough and chocolate chips.
I followed her to the kitchen, seeing her pull out a tray of cookies from her oven. It seems she had already cleaned and put away everything she had been using, as there was no sign of any bowls or spoons to be seen.
"Here, the cookies are done." She said with a smile, placing the hot tray carefully on the table with her oven mit, "The muffins will be done in five minutes. How about we have a cookie? To test if they're any good?"
"Well- I do think we should test them, just in case." I smiled, Y/N laughing as we went to carefully grab a warm cookie. We took a big bite of our cookie's, the tasty, gooey dough melting in my mouth. It was the most delicious thing I had ever tasted- even better than Mr Bilbos cookies!
"Wow! These are extraordinary Y/N! You truly are an amazing cook." I spoke, looking at her with a happy smile.
"Thank you! It's my mothers recipe! Now don't forget we have to taste the muffins." She winked, taking out the muffin tray. I laughed, finishing off my soft cookie.
"Haha! Oh I can't forget about that, can I?" I chuckled, reaching for one of her beautifully looking chocolate chip muffin.
"I've got an idea. How about, every Wednesday morning, you come over to mine and we cook something together? Then after we've done the gardening, we can eat it together in the evening." She asked, biting off a piece of her muffin with a small smile.
"Sounds like a deal." I said, giving her a high five with a laugh.
"Deal!" She beamed, jumping up with excitement.
We did infact, keep that deal.
