Chapter 4: The Red Blur

Barry's POV

"The tech store is on the corner of 5th Street & South Avenue. Hurry, the guy is about to leave", Cisco's voice boomed through my headpiece. I smirked as I continued to sprint to the store. As I got to the crime scene and opened the door, a young boy of about 9 stood there to my surprise. "Cisco, I think I'm at the wrong place", I stated confused. "No Barry, that's our guy. He's the one that took the last comic book from my hands yesterday", Cisco yelled frantically. I rolled my eyes and looked at the confused boy below me. As i smiled at him, he gave me a toothy grin and ran out of the shop towards the salon opposite me. I then ran back to S.T.A.R. Labs and put my suit back in the display cabinet. As I headed for the door, I got a message from Juliet inviting me to a lunch date. I hesitantly agreed to it and ran back home; I needed to plan an outfit!!

Juliet's POV

After receiving confirmation of our lunch get-together, I slowly proceeded to the restaurant and took a seat near a window. I was thinking of how I had to study a whole booklet for a test when my thoughts were interrupted by the clearing of someone's throat. I turned my head slowly to see who it was when I saw the chair in front of me being occupied. I fixated my eyes on the man in front of me. " Barry", I whispered softly while a blush creeped onto my cheeks. He looked very sophisticated for a forensic science on duty. "Jules, hey", he said while smiling. And that's when I noticed his smile, this one was not filled with its usual cheerfulness, it has the slightest hint of sadness. I pouted at my latest observation and gazed in Barry's eyes. " Everything okay, Barry?", I asked him. He looked intensely at me before saying: today is the anniversary of my mom's death. I covered my mouth quickly and stared at him with wide eyes. "Its difficult for me but I'll be fine", Barry said trying to convince himself. That's it! I'm going to spoil Barry, I thought.

"Come, let's go! There's a mall close by that I want you to take me to!", I exclaimed while grabbing Barry's arm. Barry immediately started laughing when I told him about him my mother was trying to contact me. Right at that very moment, my phone rang but not my usual ringtone, it was a gospel song. I cringed at this whole ordeal while Barry burst out in a fit of laughter. "Hello?", I asked confused. And then my mom started screaming at me about how I broke our relationship by not contacting her daily. " Sorry mom I need to go, my classes start soon", I stated and hung up without greeting. As I looked up at Barry, he asked me if I really had to go. I smiled and shook my head as I smiled broadly at him. We arrived at the mall and I hooked my arm into Barry's playfully. He noticed this and gazed into my eyes. It felt like the whole mall froze around us as we just looked at each other. "Barry, why do I feel like you & I are destined for great things?", I asked. I then noticed Barry's eyes getting darker. I took this chance and slowly stood on my tip-toes and wrapped my arms around his neck. I was returned with arms snaking around my waist. Then at that moment, Barry buried his head on my shoulder and lightly kissed my neck hesitantly. I got the shivers down my spine when Barry done this but surprisingly I didn't stop him.

I broke the embrace and looked at him.I then leaned in and kissed him softly. He was caught off guard as he gasped during our kiss. I felt fireworks erupting inside my stomach. Barry then done the gentleman thing and let me stand on his toes while our kiss deepened. I then ran my fingers in his delicate hair and tugged at it lightly. Barry smiled during our kiss but i then felt a vibrating sensation on my lips. I pulled away and looked at him confused. He just laughed it off and playfully tickled me. Then his phone rang and seeing that it was Cisco, he politely excused himself and left me all alone.

When I left the mall after doing some retail therapy, it was considerably dark. I ignored the man in front of me while I tried walking home. Suddenly, the man stopped me and started mumbling words to me. I tried to get away but he then withdrew a knife from his pocket. I whimpered softly as the man instructed me to give him all of my belongings. I refused and started throwing a tantrum. The man then put the knife close to my neck and repeated his demands. I gave up instantly and gave the bags. He snatched them and ran away quickly. I was on the verge of tears when a red blur past me and got my bags back. What was that, I thought. The person then handed my bags back to me and looked at the ground. "Its 'The Flash' to you ma'am", the creature said with a vibrating, resonating voice. I stared at the hero in front of me, trying to get a good look at it. I was about to ask a question when the Flash ran away leaving a red trail behind. He left me confused, shocked and curious....but I wasn't going to let this go, I has to find out who or what 'The Flash' was and I would stop at nothing until the truth came to surface.

Hey guys! Apologies for the late update, I'm writing exams and its been hectic for the past 2 weeks. I do apologize for this chapter being so lame but Juliet has to see the flash and hear about Barry's mom. l cant wait till season 2 of 'The Flash' !! I mean, the season finale of The Flash had me in tears.....
