Barry's POV:
I adjusted the 'Puppy Tie' around the crisp, white collar of my shirt for the millionth time tonight. I was so nervous for my date with Juliet. She looked absolutely beautiful and I had no words to describe her. My eyes trailed and glued on her as I thought of her. There she sat next to me, looking out of the window, staring at the passing lights in awe with a slightly parted mouth. I chuckled softly causing Juliet's attention to be diverted to me. "Sorry Barry, what was that?", she asked with confusion painted on her delicate face. I slowly reached for her hand and slowly intertwined our fingers, not taking my eyes off the road. "Nothing darling", I said reassuringly while bringing her hand to my mouth and planting a soft kiss on it. She jerked her hand away with a face of disgust. "Barry, what are we? We aren't dating, I know, but I'm so confused. And even if you did ask me, I can't accept immediately as we don't know each other well enough", she stated bluntly. Well, talk about getting to the point, if you ask me. Luckily, we reached our destination at that point so I could avoid the question while I thought of a possible answer. But Juliet has a point, I thought. I didn't exactly ask her to be my girl officially. We just made out. But I thought she would've got the idea that I was interested in her and just assume that we were an item.
"Barry, snap out of it!", Juliet's voice droned in my subconscious causing my attention to return back to reality. "Oh yes, sorry Jules. Now look, I want you to just enjoy this evening and stop stressing", I said calmly causing Juliet's existing frown to deepen. "If you weren't handsome...", Juliet muttered loud enough for me to hear. I smiled and told her to just wait in the car. I got out from the driver's side, adjusted my blazer and walked to the passenger side. I opened Juliet's door and offered my hand as assistance for her to get out. She gracefully accepted my gesture and emerged from the car. I closed the door behind her and looped my arm. She slid her arm in mine and looked up at me with an excited grin. She was absolutely beautiful, I thought. And yes, I can't believe she's interested in me: the nerd that has absolutely no experience or charisma. As we walked towards the door, I unhooked from her grasp and ran to open the door of the restaurant. She let out a giggle and entered through the door frame. I followed in her footsteps and we got escorted to our table by a young woman.
"Good evening Mr and Mrs Allen. My name is Lucy and I'll be your waitress for tonight. Care to order starters?"
My eyes met the face of a beautiful girl with freckles, green eyes and a perfect smile. Her dirty blond hair was cascading over her shoulders and reached her waist. I looked down at the menu and back at the mermaid-looking girl in front of me. Just as I was about to order, I felt a foot kick me in my sensitive area. I winced and looked at Juliet. She gave me a dirty look with narrowed eyes. "We'll be ordering shortly, allow us a few minutes?", I requested politely with short breaths. "No problem sir", Lucy said caressing my shoulder seductively. "Hey Barry, remember to go and buy that book about STI's. We don't want you to pass it on to me", Juliet voice said sweetly. I stared at Juliet with my jaw wide open. She just gave me a short smile and attended to her vibrating phone. Lucy gave me a cringed expression and ran off swiftly. I turned my head to Juliet with a chuckle and saw her messaging someone under the table with a concerned look on her face. She looked up at me with a frown plastered on her face. She then scanned the room and put her phone on the table. "I need to go get some fresh air. I'll see you just now?" And with that being said, Juliet got up, grabbed her phone and headed towards the balcony. I wonder what was upsetting her.
