Juliet's POV

There Cisco and I sat, next to one another, smiling at our aunt Maria. She sat on the couch opposite us, not saying a single word. Instead, she started inspecting our flat, searching for noticeable flaws.

I looked at her outfit and mentally threw up. She was wearing a vintage, oversized, floral dress with shiny silver buttons. The cuffs were embroided with the colors of the Mexican flag. I cringed at her pink heeled shoes that were suffocating her swollen feet. Her grey hair was neatly placed into a low bun.

"So Aunty, how is everything back home?", Cisco enquired and leant forward to pour some tea from a teapot that was passed down through the family. "Fine", she said bluntly and stared at Cisco while he was sipping the steamy tea.

Suddenly, Cisco dropped his teacup and started prancing around while screaming. I rolled my eyes at him and placed my head in my hands, listening to Cisco overreacting. I glared at him and noticed that he was rubbing his tongue frantically.

Oh, he burnt his tongue.

I snickered at my cousin and watched him run to the bathroom l, slamming the door behind him. This meant that I was all alone with my aunt. I turned my body to face her and shot her another exaggerated smile.

She gave me a fake smile in return and then stared at me grimly. "Your mother said that you and Cisco are paying a huge amount of money on this flat. Why don't you come and live with Duante and I?", my aunt questioned and raised one of her perfectly drawn eyebrows. I gulped and sat up straight.

"Well tía Maria, I can't leave Cisco all alone because then he'll have to pay the full amount and that's not fair. He needs me".

I decided to speak  slowly and carefully; to avoid any arguments and conflicts. My aunt nodded and continued her complaining.

"Your mom is worried about you. She thinks that you're messing with boys and doing all types of naughty things with them. Things that you were taught not to do"

I gave out a short laugh and smiled at my aunt. "Tía, I'm not messing with any boys", I lied and fiddled with my fingers. I looked up from my fingers and caught my aunt glaring at something behind me.

I followed her eyes and found Cisco leaving the bathroom. He had a white towel around his head and his hair was placed into a bun. He must've taken a shower but I didn't know why he would take one at this time of the day. "Cisco has hygiene issues", I said, trying to convince my curious aunt.

Cisco caught my eyes and gave me a thumbs up, heading upstairs. Just as I was about to lie about Cisco's behavior, the doorbell rang. I stared at the door in confusion and looked at my aunt. She stared at me, expecting me to excuse myself.

"Well go and answer it, sobrina [niece] ", my aunt said and turned her body towards the door. I rolled my eyes at her curiosity and stood up, making my way to the door.

As I opened the door, my eyes widened at the figure standing in front of me. I gulped and bit on my lip. I just told my aunt that I wasn't 'messing' with boys and here stood one.

A cute one, my subconscious added.

I scratched my head awkwardly and looked at my aunt before turning my attention back to the person in front of me.
