Hi guys!
In this chapter story is being told by Xavier then by Wednesday and then by Xavier again. Just pay attention who is telling the story now :)
You are the best, guys! Thank you for staying with me. It's a big motivation for me to see that you are reading my work.
Love,
Oryna
_________POV Xavier
The speed of my motorcycle was close to 150 kilometres per hour. I was keeping the Ford in my sights, thinking over which excruciating things I would do to the bastards that dared to lay a finger on Wednesday.
Sharp whistling noise in several centimetres from my ear.
The kidnappers didn't mean to give up: the bullets in the air made it crystal clear. Since I didn't have a weapon but still had no desire to be shot, I had to manoeuvre along the deserted night roads, which were not frequently used by locals, on the outskirts of the Atlantic City. Kidnappers continued shooting, trying to make me give up: go spit, guys.
One more shot towards me. I moved to the left side of the road.
Another shot.
I started zigzagging what wasn't that easy since I had to have a bead on the enemy and ride the motorcycle not to get a bullet in the chest.
Abruptly the car stopped, and the smoke got under the tires of the vehicle. I had to stop immediately, but the distance was not sufficient for the motorcycle to stop so I turned the wheel to the side not to crash into the car. I lost control of the motorcycle and pulled over. It turned around and hit the rock.
I fell on the ground acting like I lost conciseness. Once the bastards decided that I was knocked off the game, the shooting stopped and the speed of the car got a bit lower, that gave me an opportunity to continue chasing the Ford discreetly, keeping on a solid distance from the car, so they could not suspect I was still watching them.
Just before the dawn, the car stopped near the old iron building which was located almost in the wood. I left my motorcycle away in the shrub, not to attract attention of the assholes. I did several bounds hiding behind the trees and bushes, letting morning shadows hide me. Stew's ugly head appeared from the car and then his filthy hands took Wednesday out. I clenched my fists so the knuckles got white. The guard let Stew, who was carrying Wednesday, in the building. The guard with Mohawk was tall enough and wore a black t-shirt with a white filthy spot on the chest. I couldn't start running towards the guard, it would cause much noise, so I had to make something up.
In a while the guard heard a rattling noise in the bushes just before the entrance. The guy moved towards the sound, when my arms embraced his neck. He tried to the resist but the lack of air convinced the guard to rest on the ground for several hours, letting me get inside the building.
POV Wednesday
I opened my eyes and saw the world through blurry lenses of dizziness, the really shook and went round. I sat on a chair with my hands bound behind my back. I had no idea if I would live or die. Definitely my kind of a party.
I felt the presence of other people in the room. I pretended I was still unconscious so I could remove the rope from my hands not being caught. While I was freeing myself, I was eavesdropping the conversation between Stew and a woman who was still unfamiliar for me:
- You brought a girl, it's good, but how did Xavier react? - a woman spoke with a tone of demand. The was a huge burn scar all over her face.
- Oooh, he was fighting, he is definitely in love with this goth girl, - Stew laughed, reminding me of a squirrel.
- It doesn't matter, what is really important, that she is one of the most powerful seers in the world, and she is in our hands. The blond woman was walking around the room. - How did you understand that it was them? Not a couple of teenagers looking for a place to have fun? - a blond woman looked at me so I had to stop moving my hands.
- They gave me a password, "Oculus Britanniæ" - that means Xavier and the girl got inside the Oculus dungeon using what I sent them in the message.
- You serve me good, Stew, - the woman nodded and slowly pronounced these words of satisfaction. - It was a great idea to conceal ourselves under the mask of a stalker. We managed to guide Xavier into our arms. He didn't get hurt, did he?
- My guys left him some bruises, and I shot several bullets at him because he tried to chase us.
- What. Did. You. To. My. Son? - the woman got furious in a drop of a hat. "To my son" - that echoed in my head. I saw Katie in my vision just once, and it wasn't easy for me to recognise the blond woman since she had a big burn scar. All this time Xavier and I were investigating the death of a woman that was still alive.
- Tina, you ordered us to get you the girl, having said that Xavier is not ready to meet you yet, - Stew came closer the woman and tried to hug her but the she strongly brushed his hands away, - I just followed your order. Please, do not blow a fuse. We can figure it out.
- Do you think that risking the life of my son can be negotiated? - Tina had already flown off the handle.
Tina looked at Stew's eyes and then slowly said:
- I am sure you would be glad to take this lovely gun, that you dared to point at my son, and put it into your throat, - Tina was staring at Stew's eyes.
- No, please, no! - Stew begged, getting on his knees, but the visual contact with Tina didn't get broken.
- After that, your fat finger will pull the trigger, - the blond woman didn't let the doomed man break a visual contact.
