Happy Reading :)

"He's coming this way." She looked up with wide eyes.

"No he's not." I said.

I looked at the reflection in the window next to me, last nights mascara smeared under my eyes, my hair piled on top of my head in the opposite of a cute "messy bun".

I was not ready to face him, I hadn't even vented to Lexi enough to come to a conclusion. The conclusion that deep down I knew was inevitable. I was falling for this man, but I had to be stubborn, I couldn't give in so easily.

"You look great." Lexi said, getting out of her chair, licking her thumbs, swiping under my eyes, "I'm gonna leave because you two have a lot to talk about, text me later." She smiled and jetted away.

I instinctively untied my hair, tying it again in a less offensive low bun, letting the front pieces of my hair cover my face. I wiped under my eyes again and when I looked up, and at that moment Anthony slipped into the chair across from me.

He looked like, well, like Anthony. His dark eyes seemed even darker if that was possible, probably had even less sleep than I had.

His hair was disheveled, across his forehead in an endearing way that made me want to reach out and grab a handful of it.

Snap out of it Lydia.

"Hi Lydia." He smiled.

"Anthony." I said curtly.

"Good morning." He gave me a goofy grin and I couldn't help but grin back.

"Stalker," I said trying to keep a straight face.

It was the goofy smiles you get when you both know what happened that you're smiling about but neither of you are going to acknowledge it.

"Get a new joke."

"Stop stalking me and I will."

"There's one starbucks in this godforsaken town I swear I wasn't stalking you."

"Sure."

"This time."

"So you admit you're stalking me!"

"I can't help myself." A softer smile now playing on his lips.

"Why?" My own tone becoming more serious.

"I can't get you out of my head Lydia," he said quietly leaning over the table.

I became self conscious and leaned back, using my drink to cover my mouth.

My mouth that was kissing his less than 24 hours ago.

"Not because my brother is paying you?" I accused again, not believing it myself, but still wanting to push and push to see what he would say. Felix had fucked with my head so severely that I didn't know what to believe. Even if Anthony being a spy was unlikely I still wanted to hear it over and over again until I could believe it.

"He offers health insurance too."

"Anthony!"

"Kidding!"

"It's not funny."

"I know it's not, but I'm trying to make you laugh so you don't feel like this." He said, his face losing all trace of joking and taking on the concerned look I had only seen a few times. When his sarcasm and jokey facade disappeared and I could see how much he cared.

He got up from his chair and came and sat next to me. I turned my body towards him and he pulled my chair so I was between his legs.

"Felix is a dick," He continued speaking softly, holding both my hands in his, I vaguely remembered we were in a public coffeeshop, "And he shouldn't have been keeping all that hidden from you, he shouldn't have been paying your rent and keeping tabs on you secretly. And he shouldn't have fucked with your head like that, pretending he knew me just to start shit."
