Happy Reading :)
5 months later
We were back home in California.
"Welcome back, Sorellina!" Leo, our chauffeur, gave me a bear hug.
"Hi, Leo," I grinned and hugged him tightly.
"What's up man?" Anthony greeted Leo familiarly. While we had been away, Anthony had been my liaison with my brothers, communicating with them so they weren't bombarding me with "are you being safe" texts every five minutes.
From that, they began bonding over whatever boys bond over, cars, sports, and making my life miserable.
"How was Portugal?" Leo asked.
"I want to move there," I said flatly.
"You said that about everywhere you visited," Anthony teased.
"Well, I mean it. Portugal is something else," I sighed dreamily.
"Could it be that your boyfriend was with you in Portugal?" Leo said.
"Or could it be that it was just one of the most stunning places I've ever seen? And they eat steak every morning?" I argued.
"Fair enough," Leo laughed. "That does sound magical."
"Anthony was cool too I guess."
"Thanks!" Anthony said, voice dripping with sarcasm.
I was so happy at this moment. My brother and my boyfriend talking and laughing with each other.
We arrived home and the boys were all there to greet us. My mom had made dinner for us all as a welcome back.
"Did you make the chicken this time, Mama?"
"I make the chicken every time, bambina." My mom said through gritted teeth and gave me a fierce hug and kiss.
We all sat together, and I looked to my dad at the head of the table. He had lost a considerable amount of weight this past year, thanks to Leo's diet.
"I can have chicken," he argued with Leo.
"Only the white part," Leo said sternly. "And no skin."
Papa murmured something unintelligible under his breath.
"What was that, Pop?" Marcus laughed.
"Nothing," he grumbled, and we all laughed.
"How was Portugal?" Greg asked.
"It was amazing!" I gushed.
"Let me guess, you wanna move there?" Melvin said and rolled his eyes.
I let my fork clatter to my plate.
"We may be grown but I will not hesitate in beating your ass Melvin."
"Ohhhhhhh!"
"And so it begins!"
"You said ass in front of Mom."
"She's heard worse."
"Yeah from you boys."
"I would destroy you in a second, Lydia."
"I took a self-defense class in school."
"Yeah, did they teach you how to not be a little shit?"
"No those were your college classes, Greg."
"No fighting at the table."
"So we can fight in the living room?"
"Why do we need to fight at all."
"Shut up Joey!"
"Why is everyone so mean to Joey?" Anthony whispered to me."Thank you!"
"What the hell?"
"Joey is treated the nicest out of all of us."
"Joe is Mommy's little prince."
"Yes, he is."
"Who's fighting who?"
"I'm fighting Melvin."
"Do you need a matching scar on the other side?"
"I'm going to rip your tongue out and feed it to you."
"Oh my god."
"That was gross."
"Ew, Lydia."
"What?"
"Cannibalism? Really?"
"Have some class, we're at the dinner table."
At that we all started laughing. Real, warm, belly laughs. Anthony laughed beside me and I slipped my hand into his.
