Happy Reading :)

Just a reminder of who our husband is <3

As I walked towards the door, I felt different. It felt different this time.

I was approaching Anthony, but it felt like I was approaching my future. Good or bad. I wouldn't leave without getting an answer from him.

I was done playing games, playing telephone with Raul. I wanted to hear what he was feeling from his own mouth.

Anthony was sitting at the kitchen island when I walked in.

"Did everyone end up on the plane okay? Or did they have to call security?"

Anthony was back to being his normal self, using humor to avoid talking about anything serious.

"Are you upset with me?" I stood in front of him with my arms crossed.

"Why would you ask that?" He shook his head and kept his eyes down, not looking me in the eye.

"Because you don't tell me. So I have to ask."

"What do you think I would be upset about?"

"That I got drunk last night."

"I already told you I wasn't." His gaze remained anywhere but on me.

"But you lie, a lot."

"I don't lie! Where is this coming from?"

"I want us to talk, openly. I need to understand some things. Maybe you don't lie, but you withhold your feelings."

There was a pause where Anthony looked like he was mulling over what I said, giving it some real thought.

"I guess I do withhold my feelings from you sometimes," he sighed, running his hands through his hair anxiously.

"Why?"

"Is this full honesty hour?" he asked, looking me straight in the eye finally. The breath caught in my throat. His dark blue eyes were sharp and trained on mine, framed by his dark lashes and brows. His dark hair fell effortlessly around his face. His full lips, now in a hard line from apprehension, were soft and pink. He was beautiful.

"That's- that's all I want." I cleared my throat and, hopefully, my mind of the haze he put me in.

"Fine, I'll answer your questions honestly."

"Thank you. Why do you withhold your feelings from me?"

"I'm worried," he said slowly, "that it'll scare you away."

I paused. I wasn't expecting that response at all. He looked at me with cautious eyes. He had just handed me something vulnerable, I had to show him I wasn't scared.

"Okay. Thank you for telling me that. I promise whatever we talk about today won't scare me. I just want the truth."

"Okay. Next question," he said, his body had relaxed, as if he was waiting for that in order to be himself.

"Are you upset about my tattoo?"

He cracked a smile.

"No," he laughed.

"Really?" I asked skeptically.

"Really," he nodded. "I am upset that you were allowed to get one by whatever institution..." he trailed off and his eyes snapped back to mine and he shut up.

"Anthony, I won't get upset if you need to go off on a little rant. This is what I'm talking about. I know you hold back!"

He looked at me, as if contemplating whether or not I was being honest. I wondered what kind of upbringing he had that made him feel like everything was a trap.
