Happy Reading :)
I'm in Portofino, Italy, sipping on a Limoncello at the beach. The sun is shining, and I feel more relaxed than I have in my entire life.
I had been so nervous about telling Anthony about my trip, but it wasn't as bad as I thought.
"My family lives in Naples, so I'm going to stay with them and take mini trips by train around Italy, so I don't have to take a whole huge suitcase anywhere. I can take a little carry-on."
"So smart!" Anthony said.
"Yeah, and I can take cheap flights to other countries, Paris, Madrid, London!"
"That's a great way to see everything."
"I'm going to stay in hostels anywhere I go so that I can mainly put money towards flights and food."
"Yeah, you have to get the best food everywhere you go."
Anthony's expression never dims, no matter what I say he seems happy for me, as if I'm not telling him I'm leaving for five months—bye boy!
"I'm going to splurge a bit towards the end and stay at a nice hotel in Portugal. It's going to be Fall there and I've heard it's beautiful. It'll be a nice finish to my trip before I come back home."
"That's exciting!"
"It is," I said nervously. "I'm just scared about us, if I'm leaving for five months, what does this mean for our relationship?"
"Lydia, I've waited a long time for you. Not just these past few months. I think I've been waiting for you my entire life. Five months is nothing."
My heart felt like it could leap out of my chest. How did he always know the perfect thing to say?
"I love you," I sighed in relief and he pulled me into his arms, hugging me tightly.
"Is that what you've been nervous about all day?"
"Yes," I admit.
"Non-issue." He shook his head as if I was crazy to even think this would be a problem.
He's taking this a lot better than I thought, I thought to myself.
Anthony smiled at me and walked to his room. I heard shuffling noises, then a loud thunk, then Anthony was walking out of his room, rolling a suitcase with him.
"The weight limit is fifty pounds, right?"
Today
So now we are in Italy. Together.
Now I know what you're thinking, what the hell, Lydia?
Don't get me wrong, I'm still going to have my independent girl backpacking trip through Europe, but we agreed he could join me for the first month in Italy.
If it were up to him he would be my bodyguard for the whole trip, but he understands that I need to be on my own.
Well, he understands that I would have no problem blocking him and flying to another island if he doesn't agree.
He also understands that Raul cannot run a restaurant alone, and that he has to work sometimes.
I decided that I would go back home after my trip. I caught up with my brothers here and there (they were all very excited to see Anthony with me and couldn't understand why he couldn't stay the whole five months) it was nice talking to them, but it was also nice keeping my distance from the place that caused me so much heartache.
"Hey, baby," Anthony runs to me from the water, shaking his head like a dog, getting me soaked.
"Ew, Anthony! You're wet!" I laugh and he collapses on top of me, kissing my neck.
"Have you decided yet?" He asked.
Anthony looked different. After three weeks of hopping from sunny city to city, suddenly he was glowing. The boy could tan! It was the Mediterranean genes in him. No more dark circles, no more brooding, no more vitamin D deficiency.
And no more smoking. That was another condition of mine if he wanted to come with me. He had nearly thrown his pack out the window when I told him if he wanted to come he had to quit smoking.
"Decided what?" I rolled my eyes, knowing what was coming.
"If I can pick you up at the end of your trip?"
"You mean if you can crash my life-changing trip and vacation with me in Portugal."
I had decided my last stop would be in Portugal. Portugal in the fall was breathtaking and it would be a nice end to the five months of travel.
"Yes, I would like to bring you home," he said with a knowing smile.
It was hard to say no to anything he said when he looked at me like that.
"I love you."
"I love you more." He grinned, the same grin he gave every time I said the three words.
"Maybe."
"Fine," he smiled, "I'll take a maybe."
I knew me being alone in different countries scared the shit out of him, hell, it scared the shit out of me. But it was an adventure I wanted to go on desperately, and he would never get in the way of that. That's what I loved about him, that he didn't smother me the way my family did.
He smothered me the way I wanted.
"I love you," he said and began peppering my face with kisses until I was squealing.
This was bliss.
3 more chapters until Loals 3 is over.
This chapter was short and sweet but the next one is 3 times longer, 3 times juicer and I can't wait to share it.
I hope you enjoyed this little vacation vibe
See you soon
