Enid had been trying to avoid Wednesday as much as possible in the two days following that "accident"on the first night of the new school year.
She only showed up in the room at night, by which time Wednesday was asleep or out practicing the violoncello.
She knew that if she had confessed anything about her feelings for Wednesday, she would had tried to get as far away as possible from Enid, probably even blaming her for putting her in an awkward situation.
For once, she acted like Wednesday, she tried to ignore what she felt and her impulses that her wolf was howling constantly within the walls of her mind.
That morning at the lake, however, she had gone away with Ajax to talk, she needed someone who understood her and Ajax, who had been by her side for some time, he knew her almost completely.
They had plunged into the water and the boy, seeing her so sad and thoughtful , he had done everything to try to make her have fun, laugh, like the usual Enid, but there had been no way.
-Do you want to tell me what's on your mind, little wolf? - He had asked her, after having decided to do another swimming race to arrive first at the center of the lake.
-Do you ever have the sensation of emptiness that... I don't know... -
-Well, I may have felt something similar when you left me. - Ajax answered, but Enid shook her head.
-Oh, I understand now, do you have romantic problems with someone else? -
-That's not the point, Ajax... -
She hadn't been able to explain herself because Ajax had shown her an unmistakable girl on the shore and Eugene who was calling them waving his arms.
Here's that feeling of emptiness, it was back.

Wednesday opened her eyes again as if she had just awakened from a terrible nightmare and the first thing she saw was Xavier calling her.
She coughed several times and looked at the boy.
- You had ruined my death. - She complained between coughing, sitting up, while everyone was worried about her and she heard Ajax babbling in the distance, as he described with too much emphasis what he had seen.
-Where's Enid?- She asked, trying not to sound concerned.
There was no need for an answer from him, she saw Enid pushing away the others through the crowd, walking with a terrifying smile that almost covered her entire face.
She was still wet and in her atrocious pink and blue swimsuit. It must have only been a few minutes. Her ankle was almost purple, but it didn't seem to hurt her.
-Wednesday!- She squeaked, jumping on her to hug her, which annoyed Wednesday, who was frustrated by the fact that no one had yet told her what the hell had happened and, perhaps, because she believed that kiss had been a dream due to lack of air.
Enid noticed that and pulled away herself from Wednesday.
-Sorry, no hugs, I know ...- She told her smiling in that sincere way of hers.
Wednesday was even more annoyed.
Is she making fun of me?
While both of them were accompanied to the infirmary, Bianca told Wednesday, for the umpteenth time, what had happened and what she had seen at the bottom of the lake.
She and her companions had run to them, but once they got there they realized that the creatures were already fleeing, perhaps summoned by something else.
