Chapter 7

A week later...

I groaned and turned off the alarm clock as it sounded, still rolling in the bed wanting to sleep more.

"Hey, wake up! Don't make me drag you off the bed!"

It's still 7 a.m...

"Don't you remember? We're starting school at 9:00 and we both haven't even bathed and eaten food yet!"

I woke up immediately.

"Alright, let's get going!" I yelled.

"Hah! So now you're up."

It was already 8:45 a.m. and we haven't even grabbed our bags yet.

The school was 5 minutes away from the dorm building by walking. But it's always nice to come to school a bit early to check out some places, especially when you're a new student.

"Hold on! You go down first, I'll be right there!" We both stood in front of the door still inside.

"Oh come on, what now? We're going to be late you know."

"Take your red gem!"

"...Again?"

"Oh come on! Just take it, I'm telling you that it's definitely a lucky charm that could possibly help you with learning in school!"

I didn't even have time to think, so I just crammed it in my overstuffed bag and zipped.

Nothing usually happens when I bring the gem, but maybe that's the whole point, a lucky charm to protect me from anything bad.

"I just need to get some snacks from the fridge for us to share during recess. Now off you go!" She pushed me out of the door leaving me to regain my balance.

...Alright. Time to finally start a new week.

As I was running down the stairs, I accidentally bumped into Akata on the way down.

"Oh shoot, I'm sorry!" I panicked.

"Oh, hey Rai! No need to apologize. It also seems like we're both late." He stopped walking on the way down.

"C'mon we're late!" Before I even had time to react to whatever that was happening, I immediately grabbed his wrist and dragged him down the school stairs with me.

"Wh- HEY!"

We ran together but he didn't seem very athletic, maybe it was just the long fall coat he was wearing.

As I was on the floor ground walking to the entrance of the school, Citrus was still at the window.

I let go of Akata's hand hurriedly for who knows what reason and said "You better hurry!!"

She just waved at me. "I'll be right there!"

She rushed as fast as she could and arrived immediately before the bell rang, everyone was already entering their classes.

"See you at the field! I heard that all classes are having a Streak showcase at the same time!"

I just snickered. "See you there!"

I wonder if she knows why I was late yesterday or if she even knows who Akata is.

I have no intention of telling her this information though so, whatever then.

"Alright class!" It was 9:00 sharp. "As you all know there was a science presentation due today. It's time for all the groups to show their progress!"
