Chapter 3

A/N: this chapter will be a lot shorter than the others since it's only one scene. Anyways continue ^^

Rai's POV

I shook my head from the light-headedness as I opened my eyes, as if I had just got knocked unconscious.

...What the hell happened?

There was an endless void around me. All I saw was black no matter where I looked.

"What the..." I felt my entire body shaking.

As I awoke, I was on a metal chair with both of my hands cuffed behind it.

I tried to break the chains by force, but the result was to no avail.

"H-hello??" I started to call out to the void.

Unexpectedly, there was a whisper.

"you will be the first..."

What?

"this world... will..."

"Will?? WILL WHAT." I shouted.

There was a loud ringing noise entering my ears.

Shoot, I can't close my ears!

The ringing noise was similar to the one I heard when I got struck by lightning in Exalos.

I noticed a gray silhouette appeared in front of me amongst the black background, watching me struggle in anguish.

This has to be a method of torture.

"Let me go!"

The noise kept getting louder and louder, causing me to almost turn deaf.

"just like a flower..."

The silhouette scowled and tried to speak again, but only more wisps of gray poured forth. The words came out like something carried through a gust of wind.

Not even getting to hear what it said for that last part, he was suddenly transparent, and now became as sheer as wispy curtains.

My eyes widened as I woke up and rose from my bed.

It was 4:00 a.m. Oh gosh.

I sighed and realized it was just a nightmare and finally calmed down, though my eyes were still wide open.

My eyes shifted to Citrus who was fast asleep, I gave out a relief sigh. Also realizing that I'm in Caspian, and not in Exalos.

I rarely get nightmares, even if I do, mostly they are just about my family. Even after I wake up, I usually forget about them completely, not even knowing I had a dream.

Despite the soft mattress, my heart is still pounding fast out of fear. Whatever that nightmare was, it scared the heck out of me.

A shudder ran up my back as I recalled the nightmare, but a few seconds later I seemed to forget about it completely.

The only thing I remember was what it said before I woke up was... uhh... ughh come on!

I seem to forget what it said to me.

I kept gripping on the soft mattress trying to calm down. Moments after, reality starts to hit me.

. . .

I finally laid back down on the bed, staring at the dark ceiling.

I never thought I'd get the chance to meet a new friend, see a new region, or even get a Streak.

I know I already said it, but this bed actually feels really soft. It's almost as if I shouldn't get too comfortable with everything in this house for some reason. I shouldn't just take it for granted.

Is my life going to change from this day onwards? Thanks to this human who saved me?

I looked to my left and saw the heart-shaped gem on the nightstand. It's still emitting a bright red light till this late hour. But I still haven't figured out how it works.

A sudden thought rushed up my head, should I be happy that this happened to me, or not?

I want to sleep back, but after that dream- no. Nightmare. I don't know anymore.

Every time I feel like I want to close my eyes and rest, the ringing noise starts to haunt my ears.

I have to keep gripping my ears, closing them, hoping to block them out of my head. Even if It wasn't there, I felt like it was going to ring in my ears any time soon.

I even curled up my tail to feel safer, and maybe hug it as I sleep.

It was the same ringing noise when I first got stuck by lightning... is that why?

Did the thunder really do that? If that's the case, then I might hear that ringing noise every night! Or maybe even every time the sky starts having thunderstorms!

Do people really get Streaks from accidents like these? I thought they just get them.

There was a book that I've read since I was younger.

From that book, what I've seen is that there are about 10 coloured streaks a person could have.

6 colours of the rainbow + brown, black, white, pink.

I'm still unsure of the specific order or rank of strength about these Streaks or if some coloured Streaks are more powerful than others.

There are many questions about the Streaks that I don't know about. All I know is that they were probably given by the gods.

Do you get the power from your Streak depending on the colour?

Do colours even have meanings?

I'm pretty sure all the different colours mean something, otherwise, why would each person get different coloured Streaks?

If that's the case then... what do they mean?

Maybe I can't answer all those questions right now, but I'll find out about them soon.

All I know, is that I was finally able to get out of my small living and start a new chapter in my life.

This life ahead is going to change from now on. Me and Citrus together.
