I sat next to Clarke, both of us nearly in tears at our situation. She had a device put together by Raven that was meant to act like an EMP, and she put it to the back of her mom's neck.
Ontari was no help to us, so Clarke decided to use it on her mom instead. Abby jolted awake at the zap, sucking the chip from her body. She screamed at the uncomfortable feeling. I couldn't help but feel partially responsible for this. I was the clear solution to ending this war, but I was too selfish to ever agree to take the Flame.
"Don't feel bad," Clarke told me. "I don't want to force the Flame onto you," she said.
Finally, the chip was drained from Abby, and she was slowly regaining consciousness. "Mom?" Clarke sniffled. "Can you hear me? I know you're in there. Come back to me." Abby wasn't my mom, but it broke my heart just as much as Clarke's. She loved my father, and he loved her. Yet I dared to play the victim. And now my dad was chipped, and there was a chance I couldn't save him.
"I need you," Clarke begged. Abby opened her eyes, and Clarke smiled. I leaned my head on Clarke's shoulder, trying to hide my tears. She got to have this reunion with her mother, and I was happy for her, but I wished I could hug my father and know it was really him and not Alie.
"Clarke," Abby said weakly.
"Yeah," Clarke said. "You're ok. Here." Clarke helped Abby sit up. I didn't try to hide my crying anymore, seeing the reactions of both Clarke and Abby.
Abby, just like Raven, remembered what she put her daughter through, and she was crying even more now. "I'm sorry," she gasped out.
"It's ok," Clarke told her.
"I'm so sorry," Abby repeated. Her eyes fell on my busted-up face, and even though she knew she didn't cause it, it made her even more upset. "Jules, oh, my God," she said. Along with my busted face, she could see the marks on my neck.
Abby placed her head in her hands, sobbing. "It's ok," Clarke said. "Hey, stop." Clarke forced her mother to look at her. "It wasn't you."
"It was," Abby said, turning to me. "I told Alie she could use Kane to get information from you," Abby sobbed. "And I told her that she could use you to get him to take the chip."
I bit my lip. "Well, it doesn't matter now," I said. "It wasn't you. You were being controlled."
"Mom." Clarke grabbed her hand. "We need your help," she finally got out. The doors were thrown open, and Bellamy returned with the rest of the group. He immediately aimed his gun at Abby, thinking she was still chipped. "Hey, no. It's ok," Clarke told him. "I used the EMP, she's back."
"Well, what about Ontari?" Murphy asked, pointing to the lifeless body. "Thought you said we had one shot with that thing."
Clarke stood up. "I told you, Ontari's no longer an option for the Flame. She's brain-dead. Is the floor secure?"
"For now. Jaha and the guards are tied up in a bedroom," Bellamy said.
"We took out the elevator and the ladder as we climbed," Pike added. "The stairs are collapsed. No one's following us."
"Good. Then we have time," Clarke said.
"What we don't have is a way down," Murphy commented.
"Time for what?" I asked, ignoring Murphy's previous statement. I had been with her this entire time and I didn't know about anything Clarke was planning.
"An ascension ceremony," Clarke said.
"Ascension? You just said Ontari wasn't an option," Murphy said. "Besides, she's still chipped, and we no longer have an EMP."
