Kenickie's Girl

chapter 2

Today is the day of the pep rally and I had made the cheer team along with Sandy so I had no other choice but to go to the pep rally.

Being a cheerleader is fun. I've been taking dance classes my whole life and did gymnastics up until 3rd grade because I hated the idea of broad shoulders.

My ex seemed to be more in love with my body than me which always hurt me. Now I'm super selective as to who is my boyfriend so I won't get so hurt again.

We finished our cheer for Rydell and I decided to leave the crowd and look for Danny and the guys. They hadn't noticed me as I was walking up behind them. I heard Doody, Sonny and Putzie jokingly cheering "do a split give a yell shake a tit for old Rydell!" I laughed behind their backs and they all looked embarrassed.

Danny said "you idiots." I said "it's really okay you guys that was hilarious." They all looked less tense and tried to look all cool. Then I heard the sound of an engine that sounded like it was on its last leg.

It was Kenickie pulling in with his ...new? ish car. The guys all laughed and he said "watcha laughing at?" Danny said "what is this piece of junk?" Kenickie said "wait till I get her all fixed up she's gonna run like a champ."

We all giggled until I saw Rizzo walking up to us with the girls and a mischievous look on her face. I knew she was trouble from the moment I saw her and I felt very glad I was not part of whatever mean plan she was conducting.

I saw a confused Sandy which meant she was about to be embarrassed. My brain just put the puzzle piece together that the Danny I've been talking to all this time in school was Danny Zuko, the one she met at the beach.

Sandy stopped and said "Oh hey Ellie...Danny?!" He said "Sandy!!" She smiled and said "oh Danny!" He said "I thought you were going back to Australia?" She smiled and said "there was a change of plans!" He looked back at me and the guys and saw us all confused and looked at the guys and completely changed his persona.

He started acting really rude towards her and made some joke that he's another Danny and to look in the yellow papers for him instead. Sandy looked so hurt and I could tell she was about to cry.

She said "you're a fake and a phony and I wish I never laid eyes on you." As she threw her pompoms on the floor and stormed off the guys all said "ooo." Rizzo gave Danny some suspicious look like she had known what she had just did and the girls all followed after her like idiots. Frenchy and I made eye contact and I looked at the guys and then Danny and I said "nice going asshole." Frenchy and I ran after Sandy and we found her crying behind the bleachers.

I wiped her tears with my thumbs and I said "it's okay Sandy, don't cry." She hugged me and said "I don't know what happened, we were so in love this summer, he's really just broken my heart." I said "oh Sandy don't cry, he's just not mature. Don't let his stupidity make you cry."

Frenchie said "Ellie is right, men are flies on dogs, men are amoebas on flies on dogs." We all laughed and Frenchy said "come on we're all having a sleepover at my place, let's go."

We got to Frenchy's house and the whole time I kept giving Rizzo nasty looks and she was doing the same. I was so mad at her. Not even mad. Infuriated.

We started drinking. All of us besides Sandy. Which of course Rizzo made fun of her for that as well. We all soon changed into pajamas and Rizzo and I were the only ones smoking a cigarette while we watched TV.

I heard a familiar engine outside and I smiled and I said "Kenickie?" I drunkenly stumbled to the window and I saw the guys outside waiting. I looked around and the girls came to the window. I wasn't in bad attire.

I had on short pajama shorts and a tank top with a red lacey bra on. I couldn't see straight or think straight and if I could I would have shut that damn window and made Sandy stay inside but I did quite the opposite. I dragged poor Sandy outside with me. I was so drunk she knew I was not worth fighting with.

We crawled out the window and climbed down Frenchy's house pipes and onto the ground. I said "hey Zuko." I heard Sonny say "drunk, she's drunk!" I said "yeah I am Sherlock Holmes." We all laughed and I said "so why are you guys here?" I leaned into the car letting my breasts pop a little." Danny said "I came to apologize to Sandy." Sandy rolled her eyes and said "I'm not talking to him right now, have fun Ellie." I couldn't tell if she was being serious or sarcastic but I said "Sandy, wait come on." She said "I'm going back inside, I'm getting my stuff and going home, they don't want me to sleepover anyway I can tell, call me when you get home promise?" I said "yeah I will."

I could hear myself slurring my words but all of a sudden Danny got out of Kenickie's car and he said "I'm getting out of here, I can't deal with you all right now." I said "where you going, to flog your log." He smirked and said "I'll think of you while I do it." We all laughed as he walked off.

Kenickie said "so um.." I said "what's up." He said "one guess." I smirked and I said "you got a lot to offer a girl." He looked me up and down and said "you bet."

I smiled and I got in on the other side. He put his arm around me and zoomed out of the driveway. He suddenly stopped which didn't make my alcohol filled stomach feel so great.

The guys in the back complained and said "hey man what the hell?" Kenickie said "beat it!" They all bitched and moaned and left the car.

He zoomed off and I had no idea where we were going but I loved the thrill.
