"Why has a meeting been called?" Ana asked Adora as they walked towards the main hall."I think its just for our year, so maybe something about exams?" Adora guessed in response to her friends question, but in truth, Adora had no idea either.
It wasn't long before the two best friends, along with the rest of their year was gathered in the main hall, sat on the long rows of seats. The head of their year, Mrs Kingsley took to the podium that was at the front in the centre.
"Thank you all for coming everyone, I promise I wont keep you long but I have some updates on the happenings that will take place in the run up to Christmas." Mrs Kingsley started. "We have begun a new program that we hope will connect all students here at St. Edwards. As you all are the top of the school, for the next three weeks you will all be running workshops with the younger classes, from the Prep school. The workshops will be promoting and giving the students an opportunity to learn about the subject that the workshop teaches. You all will get to choose which workshop you would like to lead, from the list of subjects here."
A underwhelmingly small list of subjects came up on the painfully bland PowerPoint that was being projected onto the screen, behind Mrs Kingsley. Ana's eyes scanned through the list, and much to her disappointment, fine arts was not there. What was on the list however, was modern languages. The sent a wave of relief through Anas body, as she would actually get to run a workshop on something that was natural to her.
"What are you going to do?" Adora whispered to her.
"Modern languages." Ana replied back. "Teaching italiano should be easy enough."
"Ha, good luck with that. You clearly haven't spent enough time around the Prep school kids. Not an easy bunch, that lot." Adora chuckled.
"How hard can it be?"
___________
Very fucking hard apparently.
It was the day after the presentation and the first day of the workshop. It was 15 minutes in. Ana had spent the first 5 minutes trying to get them to be quiet, along with the help of another guy in her class, Jamie. It wasn't until she'd practically shouted at them in Italian that they finally froze.
Now, the group had been split into two, half of them working on a French worksheet, the other half working on an Italian one.
"Nice to have some peace and quiet." Jamie commented to Ana. She laughed politely.
A young boy on the Italian table stuck his hand up. Ana walked towards him with a kind smile on her face. "Can I help you?"
"Uh yeah, what does," the young boy who must've been about 11 or 12 looked back down at his worksheet. "'sono andato al parco con i miei amici' mean?"
"Well, try to break it down and see what connections the words in the sentence has to words in English." Ana responded. "Parco sounds like park in English, and you can look back towards the top of your sheet and it gives you a translation box to help you, okay?"
"Thank you." The boy responded quickly before grabbing his pen again and studying the sentence.
Ana walked back to the front of the classroom, where she was originally stood with Jamie. "You're a natural with them." Jamie said.
"Sometimes they just need someone to point out the obvious. A bit of reassurance, if you will." Ana replied. "That's how I felt when I was learning English."
"Impressive." Jamie smiled.
It wasn't long before another girl put her hand up, except this time it was on the french table. Ana knew a little bit of French, but it definitely wasn't her strong point. "Do you wanna get this one?" She asked Jamie.
