Second day.

"SOOOO?" Nikki walked beside me as soon as I got out of my car.

"So what?" I asked her back. Since yesterday, everyone kept bugging me about this kissing scene. Mitch even asked me to get his number 'cause, as she put it, he might be into me. That confused me whether to laugh or laugh harder.

"Oh come on! Don't play dumb with me. What's with you and mysterious boy?" She linked her arm to mine. "Details please."

"DUUUUH." I rolled my eyes. "It's only my second day here and you expect me to have something with someone?"

"Duuuuh you too. Let me just remind you, that it was your first day yesterday. And you already kissed someone." She teased.

"Only because you guys weren't there to save me from a gay on the loose!" I stopped in my tracks and looked at her. "Where were you guys?"

"Well, well." She crossed her arms in her chest. "Shouldn't we be asking you that? We were already in the room when we noticed you weren't behind us anymore. Next thing we heard you were kissing some guy at the corridors. Oh correct that. You were kissing the Nathaniel Harper, the one that gives you a monotone answer in a two page question."

"Just what do you mean by that?"

"He is a hot hottie in here. Only, he won't use his gift to everyone's dismay. He is seen going out with a girl, once. And that was years ago."

Really now. Hottie huh? And not seen dating anyone..

"That makes him all the more gay!" I blurted out and snapped my finger. "I knew it! All this whinning with the coffee stain and.. and what you just said!" I laughed.

"What the hell are you talking 'bout?" Mitch butted in as she catch up with us.

"Oh nothing. Just Kate over here going crazy thinking Nathaniel's gay."

"Ha. Ha." Mitch made a face. "You just made the corniest joke ever."

"What? What joke?" We started walking again. "You guys, he is gay."

"Oh really?" Nikki added, "Last time I checked gays wanted to be girls, not kiss girls."

"Yeah." Mitch nodded.

"The two of you should start a Nathaniel Harpers' fans club. You be the president and vice." I shook my head and looked up at them again. "That's just his facade. You know, so people won't doubt his gender or something" I laughed. My god! I knew it.

"You stop that or Im seriously going to kill you." Mitch frowned. "Mr. Black will be entering the room any minute now. Let's just talk about this later over lunch."

"Or better yet, over night." Nikki winked at me. "Let's sleepover at your place. Sorta house warming."

"Uhm. I don't know. Really. It's a school night." I said.

"That's fine! Let's just go to school together tomorrow. Literally." Mitch laughed. "Ok then. Text me your address and we'll be there before dinner. I'm going to ride with Thea."

During break time, after I talked about my Nathaniel-is-gay theory with my girls, I got up to my locker and found my picture in there -- vandalized. Behind was a note that says, "Choose who you flirt with bitch. You dont wanna mess with me."

I crampled the picture and threw it in a garbage bin nearby. Later my phone ring and an unregistered number flashes in the screen. Confused, I picked it up anyway.

"Listen here newbie, you don't know me and I don't know you either. And trust me, I've no plans of changing that and playin little games with you. So stop goofing around spreading rumors Im gay." A deep male voice said on the other line. Whoah. Is this how they say hello in this campus?

"I am not spreading rumors mister whoever you are. And y--"

"This is Nathaniel new girl." He cut me off and hang up.

Oooooh boy. Oh boy.

"Hey. How's school?" Mom asked as she kissed my cheek.

"Great! I met some friends." I dropped my bag and lay down the couch. "Oh. I think I already have haters too. How cool's that?"

How much more sarcastic can I get? To start my week, I got humiliated in front of many people!

"Really? Why?" Mom sat beside me with a worried look. Psh. Mothers. They always treat you like a toddler.

"Well. Im gunna tell you after you tell me about your day." I sat straight and smiled at her. "How's the new environment? Made friends with neighbors or something?"

"Well." She sigh and lay her back on the sofa and hugged a pillow. "It is pretty boring.. but I guess I will have fun here, soon, after I made friends and discover fun things to do. Nontheless I have all this energy to listen to you. Now you tell me about these friends.. and haters."

Won't let that go now won't she? But that's lame, I'm a grown up. I can handle this on my own. I shouldn't whine about these envious bitches and get my momma worried.

"That?" I waved a hand. "Of course I made friends. My charm is irresistable. And when I say haters, I mean admirers. Well you can't blame me if I'm this gorgeous." I stood up and faked a laugh. "After all, you are my mother."

"Good genes eh?" She laughed. We had a little chat about some stuffs. I really am close to my mother, if you noticed. After some time we heard the knob twist open and we both turned to see dad approaching.

"Honey. How's your day?" Mom asked after the welcome-home-kiss.

"It's fine. You know." He smiled and they walk to me hand in hand. "How was yours?" he asked me.

"Just like yours." I said blankly. I picked up my bag and turned to mom. "Well. Im gunna go up now. Got work to do. Mom, call me when my friends arrive okay? We might as well just use my room."

Being the only child Im expected to be the perfect one. If not the spoiled brat. But I guess Im somewhere in between. I am very close to my mom and the opposite to my dad. But tell you what, almost six years ago I used to be closer to my dad. When I was seven I would help dad paint the backyard fence instead of playing doll with my mom. I don't remember how my mom first noticed my sudden coldness to him but I do remember how it all happened. That one night is crystal clear in my memory, when my dad did that one thing that made me build a barrier between us overnight. Mom never figured out what I found out. Or else she might have been a single mom six years ago.

Im a person who forgives but never forgets. And even though its been years, I still can't find it in my heart to forgive him. Like what I always say: maybe I will, in time.

I figured this wasn't really easy. But Im gonna go for it anyway. Thank you so much @AnnieGil. :D
