"Dinner's great Mrs. Reid." Nikki said as we sat down the couch to watch movie after early dinner.

"Why thank you, Nichole." Mom replied with a genuine smile. "You kids enjoy movie I'll just be in the kitchen when you need me." She turned and headed to her destination.

"Your mom's so sweet." Thea said.

"Great cook too." Mitch added. "I can't stay here for too long. Your mom's cooking is gunna break my diet!"

"Yeah. D'you go to the gym regularly?" Nikki drops a weird question. I looked at her and she expectantly looks at me for an answer like it's going to help promote world peace.

"Uhh, no." I said. Im too lazy to hit the gym regularly. My only exercise would be brisk walking. Nothing more, nothing less. They just stared at me the whole time I was explaining this to them. "What?!" I asked.

"Really Kate? Really? Just that and you have that body?"

"Uh-huh. I envy you! You can eat all you want and you stay in shape."

I rolled my eyes. "Come on you guys. You're being too nice. But thanks anyway." I laughed. So I've been told by a few friends from middle school that I have this gorgeous body but I really don't let it all go to my head. I thought they were just being nice because everytime I look at myself in the mirror, I don't see what they see. Never. Really.

After a short movie at HBO we headed upstairs and change to our PJ's -- scratch that. I changed to my PJ's and they to their night dresses. We were gossiping about something when someone knocked. I opened the door to see dad with a few blankets on his hand.

"Your mom told me you need extras." He smiled and nodded at my friends.

"That's so sweet. Thanks Mr. Reid." Mitch said from behind me.

I got the blankets and said, "Yea." before I closed the door.

"That's it?" Nikki asked. "Why do I feel tension between you and your dad?"

Thea looked at Nikki as if telling her to stop prying. "Nikki." She said.

"It's fine." I told Thea. "Im just not close to my dad."

"Why not?" Mitch gave me the look. "You should be thankful you have both parents with ya."

"He seems really nice. Like your mom."

"On dinner earlier, I figured he's very accommodating."

"Well." I sigh. "Too much accommodating. You don't know him that well."

Thea must've noticed the awkwardness in the air and said, "Anybody read 'Macbeth'? Mr. Black said we should read it over the weekend for a lively discussion next week."

"Oh. Screw that Thea." Mitch said as she waved a hand which made us laugh. "You really into that stuff? Psh. Besides it's only a wednesday tomorrow and trust me there is not any lively discussion in school. Uh-huh. None."

After a short debate the girls teased me, again, to Nathaniel. They shared stuffs they know about him; from family background, his father was a former senator and his mom's a respected business woman; to personal stuffs, the star of the basketball team, the vampire type (you know. those with a mysterious personality); to rumors, he's gay! Kidding. That was my personal opinion. Although a part of me vehemently disagrees. Why? Because he's a hottie? A voice in my head taunts. Duh. He is kinda cute but that's just that. He's still a closet queen. Another part of me counters. You see, Im always like this. I debate with myself. Crazy huh? Weird but that's me! ;)
