KINN

"Are you sure you don't want me to stay home with you today?"

Kinn sat on the edge of his bed, gently stroking Porsche's hair. The softness of each strand cascaded through his fingers as he tenderly caressed his beloved hair. He wished to stay home because he was worried. He couldn't help but feel a deep sense of concern for his omega. The thought of leaving him made him uneasy, as if something might happen to Porsche while he was away. He couldn't help but notice his lover's changed behavior over the past couple of days. There was something about him that seemed different, and it left him feeling slightly uneasy.

He was edgy and unfocused, like he was in two worlds at the same time. One minute he would turn on the AC to 30 degrees and the next to 20 claiming that it's not working properly. He would experience mild sensations of nausea, which would then fade away unexpectedly. This sudden discomfort seemed to have come from nowhere and disappearing just as quickly. His demeanor underwent a noticeable shift; he grew increasingly subdued and withdrawn, as if seeking solace within himself.

"You're looking so hot today and you smell so good. Is that a new cologne? I bet all the girls and guys will jump on you." Porsche gleamed from under the covers. Kinn was dressed for the occasion in his dark green shirt, closed all the way up and with a matching tie and his hair styled.

"Nobody is going to jump at me. You don't have to worry. And this it's what I usually use, maybe the shower gel got mixed up with the perfume." Kinn sniffed his own shirt, blushing. He knew Porsche was bold, but complimenting him this early in the morning was unusual even for him. Also, seeing his omega jealous made him feel wanted and his alpha happy.

"I want to smell you. Come here." Porsche affectionately reached out and pulled the alpha on top of him, burying his nose in Kinn's neck. They enjoyed this intimate closeness, reveling in each other's presence.

Kinn felt a surge of electricity that ran up and down his body. Yet he didn't have any other symptoms. From all the information he read, when an alpha was close to an omega in heat, his senses would enhance as well. His body will crave the body of the omega to mark and breed him or her. But he was feeling like his usual self, minus the teasing Porsche was doing right now, by slowly biting and sniffing the skin on his neck. He wished to climb back in bed with Porsche at this moment, but he had a council meeting and his presence was required until later in the afternoon.

"Are you positive that you don't want me at home with you? I can take the day off." Kinn asked again as he looked the omega in the eyes.

"It's ok, I'm just sleepy. I will stay in bed a little longer. Plus, you have that meeting. Go be important."

"You need to call me and message me every two hours, ok?"

"Two hours? What am I in school? I'll call you when I wake up, ok? Stop worrying so much."

"I can't. I want to know you're safe." Kinn gently pressed his lips against the younger one's forehead after checking his temperature by pressing the back of his hand to his skin.

"I am fine. Just need to rest. I'm feeling completely exhausted by this entire process of trying to let go of the suppressants." Porsche appeared slightly pale, and there were small beads of sweat gathering on his forehead near the hairline. His breath was hot as he exhaled the air from inside his body and Kinn noticed it as it fanned over his skin.

"I noticed...call me if anything happens, ok?"

"Ok, I will..." Porsche replied, smiling, but it wasn't a genuine smile, more like a forced one to mask how he was feeling in reality.

Kinn left the house, but he was not happy with his decision. As he made his way towards the university, a wave of conflicting thoughts washed over him. The temptation to turn around and head back home to take care of Porsche tugged at his mind repeatedly. However, duty called as the university board eagerly awaited him to weigh in on the proposed teaching programs. The inner struggle intensified with every passing mile.
