"GUYS, THIS is michelle. she's new to boston. since she's on the cheer squad i was wondering if she could sit here?" alexandria asked her friends, even though she knew they would say yes. they weren't a clique type of group, just as long as the person was chill, it wouldn't be a problem.
"of course, man." matt smiled politely at michelle, who returned the favour. "not a problem!" nick also replied. everyone else was okay with it too, which michelle was thankful for. she wasn't sure how joining a new high school so late would go, but now she had no worries.
michelle took a seat next to matt and smiled again. "lexi told me all the names before we got here but i haven't got used to which triplet is who yet." she hinted for nick and matt to reintroduce himself.
"i'm nick. i'm usually the one yelling at the other two." he joked and michelle laughed. "so you must be matt, then!" michelle turned to matt.
"yeah. how did you know i wasn't chris?" he asked the girl.
"oh, lexi told me all about chris already and told me he was 'a demon in a human suit'. so i kind of figured it wasn't you since you're nice already." she chuckled and looked at lexi who seemed proud of herself.
"of course she already said something to michelle about chris." darci laughed with her brother.
"where is he, anyway?" matt looked around the cafeteria for his brother but didn't see him anywhere.
"he's with blake somewhere." madi answered nonchalantly.
"prolly lighting up." dion elaborated.
lexi rolled her eyes. of course he's smoking weed in school. no wonder he's failing, she thought to herself.
"again?" nick said, annoyed. he didn't want chris to make a habit out of this.
"do you guys not smoke then?" michelle asked curiously.
"no it's not that. most of us do, other than nick and madi." lexi explained.
"sober queens." madi exclaimed while both she and nick held up a peace sign.
"oh okay good, cause i'm originally from cali and i was gonna be so bummed if i had to smoke by myself here." michelle sighed in relief.
"i've been meaning to ask actually, why did you move?" alexandria questioned her new friend.
michelle explained that her dad got a promotion at work but the company wanted him to relocate to boston.
"well it's great to have you here michelle. hey, how about everyone comes over to our house and we can watch some movies?" matt smiled at michelle as he invited everyone over.
meanwhile, darci sat on the table in silence. lexi noticed this a while ago, but her face was unreadable. she made a mental note to ask about it later.
everyone agreed to meet at the sturniolo house later on.
"i'll let blake know, i got bio with him next period." dion spoke before excusing himself to the bathroom.
just then chris pushed open the cafeteria doors, with catherine walking behind him.
lexi, as if she had a sixth sense for chris' presence, snapped her head towards the doors behind her to see the pair walking in together, and immediately rolled her eyes.
"oh, here's chris now. and what's that girls name again?" nick looked at darci for an answer.
"what? oh, that's catherine." darci had zoned out and didn't realise nick was even talking to her until he had waved his hand in her face.
"hey!" catherine said with enthusiasm, to which everyone smiled apart from lexi who seemed to cringe at the sound of the girl's voice. this wasn't usual for lexi, she usually didn't have issues with anybody, but something about catherine annoyed her in ways she couldn't explain. maybe it was because she took a liking to chris and that seemed like an unnatural phenomenon for lexi to understand.
whatever it was, it was difficult for her to hide.
"hey catherine." alexandria decided to just ignore these unexplainable feelings because she didn't want to make the girl uncomfortable when technically she hadn't done anything wrong.
"we were just inviting everyone over to the house after school. this is michelle by the way." matt told chris, who nodded at michelle in acknowledgment.
"i'm chris, nice to meet you dude." he spoke to the girl who smiled politely.
"oh can i come?" catherine asked the group.
"of course you can, give me your number and i'll add you to the group." lexi replied and opened her phone, "give me yours too, michelle." she smiled.
the 'ville 🤝 lex added michelle to the group! lex added catherine to the group!

after the school day was over, everyone headed over to the house for a movie night. the group did this often, it was fun hanging out after school and chilling without being in the busy cafeteria.
the first to arrive was lexi, who drove over with darci, michelle and dion.
"let's decide what movie we're watching so the others don't get to choose." nick scrambled for the remote which was on the coffee table in front of them.
