"OKAY EVERYONE pay attention! i'm gonna show you the first moves and then you follow along when you've got it. sound good?" lexi shouted to the freshman, sophomores and juniors stood in front of her.
lexi hit play as lose my breath by destiny's child began playing on the speaker.
she felt the music as the drums opened the song. cheerleading made her feel free, and this routine for the upcoming pep rally was one of her favourites that she ever came up with.
the opening count required strong dancers and people who could tumble. lexi was confident there would be a handful of people in the gymnasium who had the skills to perform this routine.
but for this demonstration she was only performing a watered down version of the steps so it would be easier to follow along. it was the reason she was such a good cheer captain; she always accommodated to the other people in the team and made sure everyone was happy.
the girls in the room had began to copy her movements and she could already see that there would be a lot of good contenders for the new team.
after the majority of the girls in the auditorium had gotten used to the moves, she moved on to the next section of the recruiting.
"raise your hand if you have experience with tumbling or any acro tricks." about seven or eight girls raised their hands, and lexi brought those forward.
"if you aren't confident in your acro ability, i'll leave the music on and darci will keep working with you on the the moves." lexi gestured to darci who nodded and moved the remaining girls out of the way to continue with the dancing.
"so you girls can really make our routine that much better because you can do the tricks that make the crowd have more energy. so, we'll start with a round off back handspring layout." lexi explained.
a girl at the front scoffed. "that's so easy." she commented to the other girls who smiled awkwardly. lexi expected there to be one of these girls, but that didn't bother her seeing as she'd dealt with many just like her.
"what's your name?" lexi asked the girl politely.
"it's catherine." she spoke simply.
lexi recognised the name vaguely, assuming she was in the gymnastics department or something.
"well, catherine, why don't you be the first to demonstrate since you obviously know what you're doing."
