LEXI WASN'T sure if it was because she hated the person sitting next to her in english, but it seemed like she was in the class way more often than her other classes.
they also seemed to drag for way longer.
monday had rolled around after the weekend of the sturniolo's party, which meant the first lacrosse game of the season would be soon.
it was time to focus and prepare for the pep rally, which was the only thing on her mind as of right now.

and she did not want to deal with chris and his annoying habits today. or any other day for that matter, at least until the pep rally was over. in fact, she'd love if he never bothered her again, but that would just be wishful thinking on her part.

finally, the drag of monday's english class was coming to an end.
"before everyone starts to pack away their things, i need your attention. there will be a project due in 3 weeks on what we've been learning so far," everyone in the class, save for a few people, groaned at this, "calm down, it won't be a presentation assignment. you can look forward to that later on in the year." mrs evans hinted, taunting the class.

i hope i'm partnered with someone smart, lexi wondered to herself.
or at least anyone other than—

"...to save my own time of partnering you, i've decided you'll be working with the person sitting next to you."
great. so much for "keeping it in mind for future classes."

a mixture of sighs and smiles could be seen around the room as the bell rang right after the teacher's announcement.

immediately, both alexandria and chris stood up from their chairs and stood in front of mrs evans.

"can i switch partners?"
"can i switch partners, please?"
speaking at the same time, the two glared at each other.

"why did i predict this would happen? unfortunately if i let you two change partners i would have the whole class asking the same, and i value my lunch break too much for that. sorry!"
and with that, mrs evans moved past the two teenagers and left the classroom.

chris, without even sparing a glance in alex's direction, sighed and walked out of the classroom, towards the field for sports class.

"aren't we going to figure out our project?" lexi called after him.

"nah, i got places to be. i'm sure you'll find time to bore me with your questions later." chris retorted, stopping to turn in her direction.

"okay cool, then you can add this class to the thousands of others you failed. enjoy sitting on the bench for all your games this season!" lexi sent him a seething smile, shoving past him and heading to her next class.

luckily the next class was art, and she was glad her class schedule was on her side. art class was a great way to blow off steam from the inevitable torture of sitting next to chris.
even better, she shared the class with madi.
lexi loved art for both reasons; she loved to paint, and spend time with madi in school outside of cheer practice.

"and then i said, "enjoy sitting on the bench for all your games this season," and left him stood there like an idiot." alexandria laughed, explaining the moment that had literally just occurred.

"i do not want to be around when you two are studying for this project." madi chuckled.

"believe me, i don't want to be there either. i mean it's already bad enough i'm sitting next to him, but now i have to willingly see him outside of school hours?" lexi complained as she assorted the colours on her easel.

"why don't you just try to get along with him? just for the project, i mean."

madi may as well have told her to shoot herself in the foot with a paintball gun.

"that's literally impossible." the girl scoffed incredulously.

"well, technically it's not entirely impossible in the realm of possibilit—" madi began, but was soon cut off.

"don't use your inhumane intelligence to undermine my hatred for that moron." lexi huffed.

"i'm being serious, lexi. this could be the chance to finally be friends with him. aren't you bored of fighting all the time?" madi levelled with her best friend.

lexi thought about it.
she was sick of fighting all the time. maybe madi was right, maybe she could try and being civilised with him. it would definitely make english more tolerable.

why do we fight all the time, anyway?

"i guess you have a point." she spoke, pulling herself out of her thoughts.

"wait really?"

"yes, but if he pisses me off i'm seriously going to sell him on craigslist." lexi warned, while madi engulfed her in a hug.

"ms. filipowicz, sit down please." the art teacher scolded the girl and she quickly sat back down.

the girls just looked at each other and giggled.
