Only the leaf rustling was heard as stars shone on the black night sky.
Slight breeze flying around.

There was no trace of the terror that has occurred only a few moments ago.
The terror of your pack's den being destroyed, lit up with fire, brought to the ground.
And those who survived are either far away, or hidding in the ruins.

The slight cold spring wind blew through your fur as you stopped walking. You looked around, searching for any threat.
No sigh of an animal anywhere near. Weak sobbing brought your gaze back down.

Kuu was crouching by your paws, trembeling.
You gave him a lick. Now feeling how cold he was, you made finding shelter for him your priority.
He was still shaking and weakly whimpering.

"Oh Kuu"..
You nuzzled your head against him, as he slightly brushed against it.
"I'm cold mama." His voice cracked.

You would normaly be in stress from all the events going on, but you had to keep cool mind. You've already putted up with it. You're used to that life can be hard.

But you knew one thing,

you were not safe here.

You gently picked your son up, once he was comfortable in your mouth you started running. You had to run at least for a while 'till you were somewhat safe.

·⚫·

You found a temporary place for him under a stump. You will leave him here until you'll catch atleast something small for his grumbling tummy.
You smelled the air once more checking for any danger.

Nothing.

"Stay put, I'll be back as soon as possible'"

You said to Kuu before you ran once again, earning a nod from him.
After you were out of sight he backed further under the stump and patiently waited for his mother.

·⚫·

'I hope this wil be enough'

You thought while you carried an average rabit.
You cautiously aproached the place where you left your child, in case there was someone near.

You barked lightly to let him know that you're here and that it's safe to come out.
For a while, nothing.
But soon Kuu rushed from under the stump and if he was heavier, he would tackle his mother down.

"Mom!"

He cheered as he was jumping around your head.
You've let the rabit fall to the ground and licked your son, inspecting him of any injuries.

"I'm fine mom!"

He said between laughs, as your licking tickled.

"Were there any intruders?"

You asked as he shook his head.
You sighned and motioned with your head for him to eat. When he ate you wolfed down the leftovers.

Then you both walked once more, it being dangerous to stay there, where the scent has already formed strongly.
There was no need encreasing it.

Once when you were far enough you found a nice tree. You lay there at the roots while your cold pup cuddled up to you, searching for warmth and comfort.

Yet he raised his head and hesitated before speaking up.

"Mama... what will happen now?"

You breathed in and out, thinking before answering him.

"Well... we will be wandering around for a bit, we will get to safer area... hunt, play... like a litle trip!"

"So.. we really won't be able to return home..?"

You embraced him with your neck, before reasuring him.

"Oh honey.... we won't. But we will make a nice, beautiful home somewhere else. New begining has unfolded before us, and we must not look at the past.
But all that matters is that you're safe, and not alone.
Now rest, you need it"

He layed his head back down, nuzzling into your f/c fur.

Kuu knew better then to question about his father. Even before the attack, his mother was raising him alone.
He didn't know what happened to him, if he died or left, who knows.
But he assumed the second one or other similar, since his mother praised the good qualities of the dead near ones, telling him stories so he would know how wonderful they were.

Yet being nuzzled in your fur calmed him down, comforted him. He knew that as long as his mother was here everything would be alright, he knew that he was protected, and ,most importantly, loved.

He yawned and before falling into deep slumber, one sentence slipped out from his heart.

"I love you mom."

You looked at your baby which had already closed it's eyes, prepered to fall asleep. Smiling to yourself.

"I love you more. Remember that Kuu."

Then you rested your head, your ears and other sences still on guard.
You were calm hearing the steady breathing next to you.
Hopefully tonight there would be no rain.
