Surrounded by towering trees of all kinds, I could not believe my eyes. When I had escaped from the frozen labor camp in Varendrell, I had never thought there could be so many trees in one place. I could sense the thick blanket of what I now know to be the barrier of the Enchanted Forest around where I had just climbed out from the cave. Everest was still in the bag on my back looking around with wonder at the plentiful life in the forest.
"Lord Bishari, I think I smell something down a ways over there."
"Seems like we're safe for the time being so let's go check it out I guess."
Heading down the mountain a little ways, I began to smell the stench of blood coming from my right. Hurrying down there I asked Everest,
"Hey Everest, do you happen to know anything that'll be of help in a fight?"
"Hmm... I do know a little bit of wind magic I suppose, though I don't think we'll be needing anything like that."
"Wha.." I got interrupted by the sound of a thud.
I then saw and heard the creaking tree fall towards me. Dodging out of the way, I turned to see a Giant Boar running at different trees around the area. As I was slowly trying to back away from the scene, I just so happened to crack a small branch underfoot. (The Giant Boar happens to have extremely acute hearing, able to hear a pin drop from five thousand paces.) I cursed my bad luck and started running for my life so soon after getting to safety. Running through the dense undergrowth I saw what looked like a waterfall running down the mountain. Going that way I again cursed my bad luck as it was a small pond area with towering cliffs on every side. Turning around to face this giant monster, I asked Everest,
"Can you Use a bit of that wind magic now?"
"I can try at least..."
As he said that, multiple wind blades manifested around me and started to fly forward toward the boar. Seeing this happen I thought for sure that we would at least do some kind of damage to this creature. How wrong I was. All that the wind blades amounted was to dust the boar off, not even a hair fell from its giant body. Being surrounded by towering cliffs on one side and a towering boar on the other, I cursed my bad luck one last time and picked up a small stone laying by my feet.
--vwoom--
The next thing I knew I was staring a giant pile of roasted boar just sitting in front of me ready to be eaten. I had never before seen such a large amount of meat in my fifteen years of life so far.
"What. Just. Happened...." I sat there with my jaw hanging wondering what could have even happened here.
"Hey down there, watch out below!" a mysterious yet calming voice shouted from above me.
I looked up to see a person diving from the cliffs into the pond right in front of me. As the young man began to surface I noticed bright blonde hair and what looked to be pointed ears protruding from the side of his head. Then I noticed what I could only explain as an overwhelming aura surrounding him. As I sat there slack-jawed staring at this incredibly handsome Elf, he dried himself off with wind magic and began to speak.
"Hello there," said the elf. "Thank you for the opportunity to finally finish that abomination off. It has been plaguing this forest for far too long. It is usually too skittish around spirits and has sensitive hearing. To top it off, it has an acute danger sense so I could never get close enough to scorch it."
I stood there rooted in place by the fastidious nature of the man in front of me.
"Oh excuse me, I haven't introduced myself yet have I? I am called Winston by my friends, Winston Senrea is my name, and my family has overseen the enchanted forest peninsula for the last 200 years. I am the current head of House Senrea and have been for about 70 years. I really have to thank you for somehow angering the boar when we couldn't even get close enough to see it."
