"Hey Niques, Would you be able to explain more about what kind of magic you use exactly?" I had asked
It was a little while after we got back to camp. I was sitting next to the fire while conversing with Niques to figure out what exactly I should be able to do now. He had told me earlier that it was earth magic, as well as some minor landscaping magic, so I was asking him what exactly he had meant by that.
"Well, let me think about that. When I am hunting for food, I can usssse earth binding magic that allowssss me to sssshape the earth to my will and catch creaturessss with it. When I am trying to go to ssssleep I tend to use my tail to tunnel through the ground and create a ssssmall burrow for myself. I also have access to a ssssspell called -Ore Sssonar-. It allows me to sssssee within a certain distance areassss that have different kindssss of ore around me. Besssidessss all that I do not usssse much elsssse." Niques had replied as he materialized in a coil in front of me.
I thought about what he had just said for a moment and decided to see if I could use this spell he was talking about. I asked him to demonstrate the -Ore Sonar- spell so I could try to replicate it. Once he had started showing me how to use this spell, I figured out how to use it pretty easily. It seemed incredible at the time , but I realized that it turned out that I had started to unconsciously put mana circulating throughout my entire body. This of course included my eyes as well. When I saw him using the spell, I was able to replicate it on my first try and saw some interesting things within the ground around camp. I then asked Niques to go and dig up some of the ore I had saw buried quite aways down in the earth here. When he returned with this ore I was excited as I had not seen it since my childhood sleeping at my mothers castle. But more on that later, with this ore I was prepared to make our beds a paradise.
After I had put this stuff to the side I asked Niques to demonstrate his Earth Binding Magic. It turned out that he was able to freely move the ground beneath him and within a certain radius around himself as well. It looked like he could also control the density and hardness of said ground as well. All in all I figured out that with this magic I would be able to at least set up a small building that we could sleep within for the nighttime. I also thought it best to build a wall around the campsite to prevent any unwanted visitors from arriving while we were asleep.
As I was thinking about all of this Sid and Lorenzo came up to me to ask about what the plans were. I responded to them saying, "I believe its best for us to stay here for the rest of the day, it will soon be night anyways. In the meantime I have a couple surprises for you guys. You should close your eyes for a couple minutes and I'll let you know when you can open them. Or better yet both of you go inside the tent for a bit, I'll let you know when to come out."
With that I shooed them away for a bit and tried a small experiment with the earth magic I had just learned from Niques. I channeled my mana within the ground beneath me and felt that I could move it if I wanted to. Experimenting with this I tested it out by moving a small amount of the ground to form a small wall that was about a meter thick and about three meters tall. I then repeated this three more times turning ninety degrees everytime to create a box. I then carved out a doorframe from within one side of the box. I then remembered that buildings needed roofs as well. I thought about what kind of roof I could put onto this small stone hut I was creating. I decided to just stick with a slanted roof that could deflect any rainfall that fell upon us within this area. Seeing the area around us was also filled with willow trees I figured that this area flooded frequently. That being the case I decided to move the entire building up by about two meters as well. I also installed some stairs that led up to the doorframe on the hut. All I needed was some kind of door. I decided to experiment once again by build a small scale version of a thin dense stone door that I could slide into the wall to open. I figured out how to create a durable door and scaled it up to fit within the hut itself. With that I decided to move onto the interior space of the hut.
