"Hear us, Our Queen!"
"Hear us, Our Queen!"
"Hear us, Our Queen!"
The shout of the people of Nirvati awakened everyone inside the palace. It is still early for them to disturb the sleep of the family. This must be urgent for they were asking the Queen to listen to them. Probably a concern they wanted to be addressed right away. The Queen went right away to the balcony where she could see people keep shouting the same thing. She looked for Fritt but she was nowhere to be found. She needs her to be her to speak for herself at the moment. She is so confused as to why people are being like this right now, at this early. Something must have happened while she sleeps and she needs to know that.
The King arrived followed by Devo then Saint, and Merida. Her daughter looks so lost and she felt sorry for what she did to her the other day. It must have been so hard for her to hear those things. She wasn't able to control her temper. Her mind is already in chaos, the last thing she wants is to argue with her daughter. Her daughter always makes sense when she starts talking but she would just ignore it because she needs to be firm for her daughter. Being vulnerable has no space in this kind of situation. Being vulnerable is not something that a leader must possess or show to everyone. Leaders like her must be firm, strong, quick in action, and listen to their people. Your emotions will not lead you to a good decision and so being composed is very important, that was something Merida did not get to realize.
"I hear you, my people. Talk to me. I would love to listen to your concerns."
"Your Highness, as much as we respect you, we would also love to see our future leader, Merida, be involved in the situation right now. She is also an edge to us because she has more powers than all of us. She can be a big help not only for us but to everyone, to other towns."
That shocked the Queen. "May I know why? You've awakened all of us for this? Can't it wait until the sun rises?"
"Our concern is urgent, your Highness. We have come to realize how our future leader has not been or has always not been around. It is like you were hiding her from us. And when we get the chance to see her, it's either she was running away or you were keeping her just by your side. How can she exercise her rights to be the future leader if she was not allowed to get involved in leading Nirvati? We love and respect you, and that should not be questioned. We just want to ensure safety for everyone."
The Queen felt humiliated by what she heard. This is not what she expected. She felt small upon hearing those words.
"It looks like the town has spoken for her," said King Marcus.
The Queen looked back not expecting to hear those words from her husband. He has always been on her side and what she heard isn't the tone he usually used on her. This was new to her. It feels like everyone was going against her.
"What are you saying?"
"It means they trust her. They want her to be involved in everything. The people have spoken, my love. Hear them. Listen to them. Remember, the Queen must listen to her people and that," the King looked at the people, "that is your people asking you to let your daughter be part of this. They were right. How can Merida know what to do in the future when she is not allowed to experience what it is like to lead her people."
"You are kidding, right?"
"No, I'm not. One thing I've regretted doing is not standing up for my daughter, Luana. She is also your daughter. Don't you trust her? She came from you, your own flesh and blood yet you cannot let her do her thing. Why is that? Are you afraid to finally let go of your authority? You are still the Queen, no one will replace you but what they want is to know how ready their future leader is in leading them. You are blinded by the idea that you must leave a great legacy in this town that you forgot to be a mother to your children."
