Chapter 2: Attempt at the second impression

Epoxe wakes up first. He gets out of the room without waking up Hatchet and sits close to the unlit campfire in the exposed part of the building. He is just hoping that Edge and Hatchet will find a way to tolerate each other. He doesn't have to wait long until Hatchet wakes up too and comes to say hi.

Hatchet: "Slept well?"

Epoxe: "Well enough.. Good morning Hatchet."

Hatchet; "Good morning Epoxe.. Edge still sleeping?"

Epoxe: "Give her a break. She literary ran away from her home yesterday."

Hatchet: "Wasn't saying anything.."

Epoxe: "Oh, sorry then."

Hatchet: "Nah, you're good."

Epoxe stands up and walks to the room.

Epoxe: "Want some tea?"

Hatche: "Sure.. should I get the water?"

Epoxe: "Nope, we have enough here."

Epoxe lights the stove and puts a pot of water on it to boil.

Hatchet: "I'll go check around the place."

Epoxe: "Be back when the tea's ready."

Hatchet: "I don't mind a cold drink."

Epoxe: "So you'll be gone for long?"

Hatchet: "Probably not."

Epoxe: "Ok."

Hatchet leaves. He takes a walk around the place but doesn't see anything out of order. Epoxe finishes making the tea, 3 cups to be exact. Edge wakes up. She listens to their conversation when Hatchet comes back.

Hatchet returns: "Is the tea cold yet?"

Epoxe: "Not at all and here you go." (He hands it over)

Hatchet: "Thank you..." (he notices the third tea) "You made 3?"

Epoxe: "I want to make Edge feel more welcome."

Edge smiles.

Hatchet with a smug smile: "Don't you know that lying to people is rude?"

Epoxe annoyed: "right.. Don't say that to her face please."

Edge hates that they are talking about her. She worries because Epoxe didn't deny that it would be a lie.

Hatchet: "Don't worry, I won't talk on your behalf.. but I'll definitely say what I think to her face.. I hope you can understand that."

Epoxe:... "You don't tell me how to talk to her so I also won't tell you how to talk to her... but then again, I think you could be nicer to her.. Just consider it."

Hatchet: "Pox, I'm not trying to be.. mean to her."

Edge is convinced that he's lying.

Epoxe cuts him off: "I know, I know."

Hatchet continuing: "I just.. won't pretend to agree with someone."

Epoxe: "And I respect that.. I wouldn't want that from you. You know me, things are chill and don't think that I'm like" (Hatchet: "Pox.") "blaming you" (Hatchet: "Pox.") "or anything" (Hatchet: "I know.")

Epoxe stops speaking.

Hatchet: "You are right. Things are fine.. Look, I know you're a good guy and that this serious talk is.. By the way, proud of you for bearing with me so patiently, not really cool for you but you don't have responsibility over the girl.. At least not more than you have over me. You shouldn't feel pressured to stand up for her or to win arguments for her." (Edge gets angry that Hatchet is trying to distance Epoxe from her.) "I get it, you knew her.."
