Chapter 5: No more fun

The morning comes and Epoxe wakes up. As he is getting up from the bed, Hatchet wakes up too.

Hatchet in a sleepy voice: "Morning.."

Epoxe: "Morning Hatchet. Tea as always?"

Hatchet: "Sure.."¨

Hearing them causes Edge more anxiety. She can't believe it's the next day. She is still lying on the floor.

After Epoxe makes tea, he makes 3 again, they together with Hatchet go out of their room for a walk around the place.

Edge thinks about completely avoiding the conversation and just leaving without a word but then thinks that would make Epoxe worry. It doesn't take long before Epoxe and Hatchet come back. They stay outside and sit in some chairs. Edge can't hear their conversation.

Epoxe: "I'm gonna go give Edge her tea."

Hatchet: "Don't, let her sleep."

Epoxe: "Ok.. But her tea is gonna get cold."

Hatchet: "She complained about being exhausted, not being cold."

Epoxe: "Fair.. I suppose.."

They start hearing some distant footsteps. It takes a few seconds before they realize what the sound is. Epoxe and Hatchet look at each other. They get up and move towards a broken wall trying to spot any movement. They can see a small patrol of forgers going towards them. They try to stay out of sight but they can't really go hide anywhere without risking being spotted. Epoxe is slightly panicking.

Epoxe: "We should hide in the bedroom."

Hatchet: "No, they're going here. We don't want to get cornered in a small room."

Epoxe: "What then?"

Hatchet: "Let's wait, quietly."

The group of forgers arrives.

The forger mentor: "Show yourself. We know someone is here. We are part of the Forgers faction. We do not want to cause any trouble. We are simply looking for someone specific."

Hatchet and Epoxe stay quiet.

The forger mentor: "If you do not show yourself, we will look for you and take anything we find interesting while we're at it."

Edge hears this and watches the situation from the second floor.

Epoxe and Hatchet look at each other and then Hatchet nods. Epoxe nods in response. They get up and show themselves. It's a group of 5 forgers. 4 apprentices led by a mentor. Hatchet recognizes a few of them because he was forced to spar with them. He also recognizes the mentor because he was the one supervising the sparring.

Epoxe: "Apologies, we mistook you for strangers."

The forger mentor: "We underst.. Ah, the runaways."

Epoxe and Hatchet get tense.

The forger mentor: "Worry not, we are not looking for you. The daughter of one of our members has disappeared. Her name is Edge. If you provide any information, we will forgive you for your transgressions."

Hatchet looks at Epoxe and can see Epoxe is determined to protect Edge.

Epoxe: "Did you say Edge? Has something happened to her?"

Edge feels extremely happy that Epoxe decided not to give her away.

The forger mentor: "You do not know?"

Epoxe: "How could I? I haven't seen her or her parent for a month."

The forger mentor: "Oh.. of course.. Well.."
