I had met Eric and his younger sister, Abby, at a home repair store. After a few uncoordinated meetings I started babysiting Abby, so that Eric could work full time at the base right up the road(which I was kinda suspicious of). I had a previous career that had set me up well enough that I wouldn't have to worry about a steady job for my remaining year, so long as I wasn't spending 1,000 a day for the next 12 years, disregarding my babysitting money.
Eric had to go off to training for a month so I stayed with Abby. A few weeks into it Abby was taken by one of my old employers after one of their guys shot a tranquilizer into my neck, my best bet was they mistook her for a family member. Which would be weird if they thought they could get me to come back if they had her. Not only did they do a poor job at looking into my past, but apparently they thought using someone I cared about would get them in my good graces, but whatever most of them weren't known for their intelligence.
So the base wasn't actually a known goverment funded base. Either it was classified or it was a spy group. Anyway I was on my way to get her when my car broke down. It wasn't far from the base, so I decided to walk the rest of the way. After a few minutes of walking a truck pulled up beside me driving was an old friend. They asked where I was going, and if I needed a ride. To which I nodded and told them I was headed to the base as I hopped onto the bed of the truck.
Once we got there I hopped out and said my thanks. Walking up to the gate I recognized some of the guards and knocked on the window. When the guy asked me what I wanted I told him I needed to speak with Micheal, and was almost immediately surounded. After working my way through the guards I went into the room and out into the fenced-in area. Then people came out to detain me. This time they had enough to be able to restain me without to many getting hurt. They then took me and Abby up some stairs to go over the entrance, and were walking us over when Eric and his team members rolled up. Once he recognised us he walked over to where we were and said, "Nina, Abby, what are y'all doing here?" To which I responded, " hey, I'm sorry about this, but I didn't think I had anymore bad blood with anyone. Don't worry though I'll get her out of here, and then I will leave y'all be. She can stay with you while I talk to Micheal and get this sorted out," as I finished I turned to the guard with a hard face, "Isn't that right?" After he confirmed, somewhat uncomfortably, I asked where he was and was lead into a building with a long metal pipe wraped around the structure above the door.
Once we got to his offce I walked in, making sure he was there before speaking, "Micheal, we had a deal so why did you take the girl?" He looked at me and rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly before answering, "well, you see that wasnt actually for you. We were trying to stop Eric from leaving and the guys didn't recognise you when they took the girl," he smiled apologetically, which only made me glare harder and say, " oh, so what your telling me in not only did you break the whole 'you wouldn't hurt anyone I cared about so long as I don't hurt any one you care about' deal, but you also broke the 'you won't use family to sway peoples decision and I won't kill you' deal as well." Once I mentiond the whole death by me part he gulped and said, "yeah, that deal I-uh I kinda forgot that one. I mean It was important but Eric shows real promise, but he didn't want his sister growing up around it, so I was just gonna give him a little push. I wasn't going to actually hurt her, you know that I just wanted to have another you and he was as close to your level as I had seen sin- well since you." At this he was kinda shaky and was looking at me like I just gave him an empty puppy taxi for Christmas after telling him there was a dog inside. Sighing I went up to him and pulled him into a hug, "first flatery getts you no where. Secong you know why we made that deal in the first place. Your an excellent hacker and decent in hand-to-hand combat, but if you threaten the wrong people they aren't going to give you the chance to even get close enough to see them, much less hit 'em, and if they did that you know I would have to go back to work and that would suck cause it getts really boring after awhile. So just be careful, and stop kidnapping kids." When I released him from the hug I was walking toward the door when I remembered something, "oh, and you really need some new goonies, one: I kinda messed up some of yours, and two: the one's that took her didn't even know me.... Oh, another thing don't tell Eric about this I let it slip that I have been in this stuff before, so just leave it at that," and with that I walked back out into the fenced area, and up to Eric and Abby. "Okay, we are good to go. You can go home and do your thing, and I will see you around sometime," before he had a chance to respond I had already walked out of base and was on my way back to my car.
