Bath,
United Kingdom.🇬🇧In a secured geographical area of Bath, a city in the United Kingdom renowned for its Roman-built baths and stunning architecture, Mahira woke up to the sound of commotion in the house. She quickly realized her father was preparing to leave on another business trip. Determined to pour out her heart to him today, as she had promised, she jumped out of bed and hastily got dressed.
With her heart pounding and a sense of urgency in her steps, Mahira dashed down the stairs. Normally, she loved strutting down the stairs, but today was different. She had to move quickly.
Finally stepping outside the magnificent entrance door, she saw her father's sleek black cars pulling out of the villa. Shielding her face with her hands to catch a clearer glimpse of the departing convoy, she facepalmed, sliding her fingers along her nose in frustration. Her eyes welled up with tears, but she wiped them away, taking a deep breath.
Just then, Achraf appeared, almost bumping into her. "Why are you such a lunatic? Get out of my way!" Mahira lashed out, already annoyed.
Achraf, clad in a white turtleneck tank top, black pants, and Chanel designer sandals, with his black headphones draped around his neck, stifled a laugh as he stepped off his hoverboard. "Oh, sorry baby sis, didn't see you there. Is it about Dad?" he asked.
"Absolute bullshit!" Mahira spat, storming back inside. She didn't want to break down in front of Achraf, but her brother wasn't helping. "Be assured, Dad isn't taking back his words," Achraf said hesitantly, his tone laced with seriousness. "We had a long conversation yesterday. We're relocating in three days." Mahira stopped dead in her tracks; she had wanted to discuss this with her father.
"I really have no problem with moving back, why do you?" Achraf asked, goading her. "Because of that...guy!" he added, earning a fierce reaction from Mahira.
"If you have no objections, I do! And if you want to stay alive with your limbs intact, never call him a douchebag again!" She shouted, stamping her feet and running back inside.
Achraf yelled after her, "Get in there and start packing!" Mahira ignored him, her mind racing. Sometimes Achraf sounded like someone a decade older than his 14 years.
Mahira retreated to her room, sliding open the glass doors to the balcony, where a breathtaking view of the city awaited.
She slumped onto the wooden swinging chair, leaning against the headrest. Retrieving her phone, she reluctantly dialed her boyfriend's number.
Ring...ring...ring. He didn't answer, and she didn't redial. Instead, she sent a chat to her best friend, Alex. A loud bang at the door interrupted her thoughts; only one person dared make such an entrance – Achraf.
"Achraf Hakimi! Can you please quietly leave my room?" Mahira yelled from the balcony.
Achraf, scanning the room for his sister, strutted to the balcony. "No, because 1) why don't you want to go to Nigeria? It's an interesting country; 2) we need to start packing; and 3) we have to..." Mahira's phone rang, cutting him off.
"Hey! I missed your call earlier," a man's voice spoke nonchalantly from the other end. Mahira smiled foolishly. "Oh, yeah! No big deal. How's your day?" The man replied coldly, "Good. I hope you've talked things out with your dad?" Mahira began, "Well, he left before I could..." but was interrupted.
"Last time I checked, I made myself clear: don't call or text unless your dad agrees to drop the moving-back-to-Nigeria plan! I can't do a distance relationship. When will that sink into your brain?" He spoke annoyed, then hung up.
Achraf, witnessing the exchange, attempted to lighten the mood by bringing up the most dumbest conversation. "Uh, as I was saying, 1) Nigeria is interesting; 2) we need to pack; and..." Mahira yelled, silencing him. "Achraf, are you nuts? Don't mention this again!" She added, shouting, "I don't want sunburn on my clear face, do I?"
