You were chosen to be the golden guards personal healer.

Five days earlier...

"Y/N!" You jolt awake from your roommate yelling and shaking you.
"Jesus, Maya!"
Maya let out a maniacal laugh.
"You need to stop waking me up like this..." you sighed as she started getting into uniform.
"But it's fuuuunn" she teased.

There were only so many rooms for less-important-scouts, so healers and medics often shared rooms with two to three witches of the same sex. (Which is so stupid because most witches now a days don't give a shit about gender)

Your other roommate, Toby, wasn't allowed to go by Toby in hallways. Guards always called him "Betty" when walking by just because they found his reaction funny.You and Maya call him Betty in front of The Emporer or guards, but he knows you mean Toby.

Toby was just sitting there, laughing his heart out at your messy hair. You threw your pillow at him. Barely any damage done. "Stop trying! Your arm is soooo weak in the morning!" Toby laughs.

You all get into your uniforms and Toby brings up the golden guard. "He's kinda cute". He says, with optimism in his voice. "What?" Maya laughs. "We don't even know what he looks like!" She chuckles. Toby sighs.

"Keep dreaming lover boy" you tease.
"Shut up Y/n!" He yells, frustrated with your teasing. "Oh please, don't act like you don't make bug eyes at him every time he walks by." Maya rolls her eyes at you.

"WHAT?!" You yell, almost too loud

"Awe, look at how red she got! Hahaha!" Toby was now singing the children's rhyme to ship people together.

"Y/n and Goldie, sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g!"

"Shut the fuck up Toby!!!"

"Never!!" Then, a mini wrestling match pursued between the two of you.

You love Toby. He's been through so much in his life. Since the minute he was born, his parents hated him.

They always told him "Betty, you need to get this whole "I'm a guy" thing out of your head right this minute! It's embarrassing." You remember him showing up at you door at 2:00 in the morning, tears rolling down his face. Bruises all over him. You didn't ask any questions, you just hugged him.

You loved him and Maya so much. Maya went through something kind of similar to Toby.

One day she brought a girl home and told her parents she was her girlfriend. Her girlfriend was the sweetest girl you had ever met. Her parents just laughed in her face and kicked her out. Her dad was so angry he said: "No daughter of mine will have a girlfriend. Not under my roof." So she left.

Her girlfriend went home to her dad drunk on the couch. He beat the shit out of her. She broke it off with Maya for her own safety. Maya slept on a rock that night.

Maya went knocking on "Betty's" door the next day and asked to stay the night. Toby's parents already got the call from Maya's parents explaining what happened. Maya was turned away, and eventually joined the Emperor's coven after being promised a good life. The Emperor's coven promised her that she would be able to use her magic freely, and show all of the people who doubted her that she was worth more than they thought.

You and Toby found out about Maya joining the Emperor's coven. You thought it would be a good idea. You and Toby definitely weren't as skilled as Maya though. You looked into other ways to get in. You and Toby were both relatively good at healing magic, so Toby decided to become a healer and you became a medic/healer while Maya was a scout. You were shortly reunited with Maya after the Emperor agreed to let her be your third roommate, even though she was a scout.
