The dragons that came with them were in safe remission state, but he was afraid that when they did not get any exercise, they will go back. Though a dragon chose its master for life, it could be pushed away in certain circumstances, and a master without a dragon was worse than a mad man. They were not only pets but they were friends who got you through your best and your worst as your champion and the best companions. Even for those when were not warriors, dragons were unconditional friends whom people could talk to and at times they were more prized than the family. Actually, the kind of dragon that chose you as the master defined the kind of status you can achieve within your family and the kind of pride your people would feel with the mention of your name. So, he could not imagine a life without them whether they were in this world or back home. It was all they had to remind them about their people and their true identity.

He was still walking when he saw her again and even though this time, he readied himself for the reaction to come, it didn't help. Too many things seemed to be happening at once and what was even worse was the fact that she was with another man which made him feel enraged. The surprise was the fact that it was a reaction he had expected at all for he was destined to be possessive of someone else. It did not make sense that he would be possessive for this weaker being as he was the leader in his land as well as his family. He knew how to yield a sword and could stand against any opponent and expected to be matched to someone of same stature and strength. So, these were the feelings he had never been trained to encounter nor did he know how to react to their presence. He stood there watching them skate in the park. She looked very happy and the man she was with looked relieved as if he had expected she would be sad. He could read the man and his aura but he still got nothing of the girl and this annoyed him. He had always hated unexplained puzzles and she was proving that she might be something he could not explain.

"David, you do know Rufus will be in town, right?" he heard her ask the man and pretended to be unaware of them despite the fact that he was eavesdropping juts to hear her voice.

"Will he be alone or with his boyfriend?"

"Come on, don't start it again. My brother has his taste in both men and women but I know for a fact that he likes Celly so don't even think of teasing him just because he has a crush on you."

"I know and believe this; I would be flattered if I didn't feel like running away every time, he looks at me that way."

"You are safe, he has fallen in love with her and I don't think anyone can blind him from her. I saw it the last time I was with them and believe me; I was just as shocked as if I had heard he is completely straight again."

He liked their conversation. The two seemed to know each other very well and from her end, it seemed that it lacked romantic feelings, something he couldn't say for the boy. Not many people in his life could sit and talk about sex like the two were so casually doing. Actually, he had never heard anyone in his life sit down and talk about themselves or their feelings. There was always a mission to do; there was always something that needed to be taken care of. Whenever his family sat down to talk, it was about quests and things to conquer or protect from. If anyone needed to voice their worries or frustrations, it was the dragons they turned to. There was never anything intimate with humans even sex was limited to procreation most of the time, often timed and timetables made for the sole purpose of getting offspring to inherit the family's societal position.
