Y/n sat among her friends in Fairy Godmother's class, engrossed in her book. Suddenly, the head fairy's voice broke through, capturing the attention of the teens. "Children," she began, "excuse me, um, as you know, this Sunday is Family Day here at Auradon Prep. And because your parents can't come due to distance, we've arranged for a special treat." She walked over to a TV monitor on a cart and clicked a few buttons. The screen flickered to life, displaying an eerie image of Maleficent.

"I don't see anything," Maleficent remarked, moving aside to reveal Evil Queen, Jafar, and Cruella gathered around her. "Nor do I hear..." she added.

Y/n could feel her anger simmering at the Mistress of Evil, and Mal noticed, brushing her shoulder against Y/n's. The five teens stepped closer to the TV, forming a united front. Y/n positioned herself between Mal and Evie, with the boys flanking the others.

"Is this thing on?" Maleficent questioned, frustrated. "It's broken!" She furiously pressed buttons on the remote and threw it down. "I hate electronics." Y/n couldn't help but smirk a little, having witnessed Carlos' tech troubles on the Isle. Villains may have been captured, but Carlos retained some technological know-how.

Eventually, the TV started working, and Evil Queen called out her daughter's name, "Evie!" Y/n would have cringed at the intensity in her voice, but after enduring yelling on the Isle, she had grown accustomed to it. Evie waved at her mother.

"Look how beautiful," Evil Queen remarked, a hint of pride in her tone. "You know what they say: the poison apple doesn't fall far from the tree." Y/n rolled her eyes, crossing her arms and occasionally locking eyes with Maleficent. But soon enough, they got down to business, much to the dismay of Fairy Godmother.

"You sure I can't see you before that?" Maleficent sweetly asked. "I don't know what I'll do if I don't get my hands on that magic wa—"

Evil Queen playfully tapped Maleficent's horns. "You! You little nugget that I love so much!" Maleficent responded with a smile.

Y/n desperately wanted to march up there and rip those horns off, but she restrained herself and assured Maleficent, "Don't worry, Mistress." Maleficent gave Y/n a perplexed look, but Y/n stood her ground. Finally, they concluded their meeting, leaving the teens to hear the echoes of their parents arguing.

"I... I'm so sorry, kids. I didn't..." Fairy Godmother apologized, but Y/n nodded, offering a gentle smile. "You didn't do anything wrong. It's okay. It's not your fault." She nodded at her friends, and together they picked up their bags and walked away. Just before they exited the classroom, Evie voiced her concerns, looking at Y/n and Mal. "What do you think our parents will do to us if we don't pull this off?" Y/n and Mal exchanged a knowing glance. "I think they're going to be silently disappointed in you," Y/n replied, accompanied by an eye roll. She then reached out, taking Evie's hands in hers. "But whatever they think, at least we tried, and that's what matters. Not every villain should rule the world, anyway."

Leaving her friends to contemplate her words, Y/n went to the girls' bedroom. Everyone was going through their preparations.

"Y/n, you will be with the others on the balcony," Mal informed her. Y/n nodded, her heart constricting as she considered how close she had become to the AKs—Ben, Doug, and even Jane, despite the latter's shyness. It pained her that they were going ahead with this plan.

She didn't desire world domination; she wanted to honor her father's legacy. I wonder if there's any other way to achieve just that, she pondered silently. The five friends bid each other goodnight, and Mal and Evie retired to bed. Y/n sat silently for a few more minutes, glancing around the room, then at her friends, and finally outside, where a full moon shone brightly.

Something was out there calling for her, but Y/n ignored it for now. With a deep sigh, she settled down to sleep.
