Happy Birthday Childe!🎂
"So this is Sumeru?" Childe asked, admiring this exotic and stunning beauty in the market plaza. He could smell in the air the spices and sweet aroma of perfume. The designs of the place and the buildings were so strange yet eye catching. "It's beautiful. No wonder you wanted me to celebrate here my birthday here" he told Lumine, smirking at her.
Lumine asked Childe to celebrate his birthday in Sumeru. At first, she was gonna make it a day after his birthday because she wanted him to spend time with his family back home. But the Harbinger assured her that they can do it on his birthday and he can come home late to visit his family so here he was. It was his first time in Sumeru but Lumine has told him some adventures and quests that got him curious and intrigued so he was glad to be here now.
"So Girlie, tell me. What are you plans for me? I'm here now" he asked her as she smiled at him. It had been awhile since they were in Inazuma. So she was happy to see him He leaned onto Paimon with his elbow which annoyed the little fairy.
"Hey! Paimon is right here ya know!" She said angrily, swatting his elbow away as he chuckled, holding his hands in defense. "First, you said you like a good fight right?" She asked him. His eyes widen in interest and his grin grew. He had always craved a good fight. Hopefully, Sumeru had some good ones.
"Yes. Will I be getting a taste of Sumeru through battle?" He said, already in for it as Lumine chuckled at his love for fighting. "Well..." she pulled out a book which held the quests, and assignments to do. "There's a group of Eremites blocking the passageway to Arua Village. Alhaitham, Dehya and Candance are already standing guarding the village incase they get there so we have to take out the group blocking the way" she explained to him as he listened. "You can handle the desert heat, can you?" She asked him concerningly, since he was from a more colder climate.
Childe found it touching that she cared about him and his physical capabilities in certain climates. "Haha. Don't worry, Girlie. I been to warm places before so I'll be fine" he assured her as she shrugged. "Ok. But don't blame me if you pass out" she told him, opening the teleporter gadget and heading to the desert.
They arrived to the desert and immediately Childe felt the heat hit him hard. The sun was scorching hot and no clouds in sight to cover it. "Over there!" Paimon pointed at the group they were targeting for. The Eremites looked so unfamiliar to Childe but that got his excitement up at fighting a new kind of opponent. "Ready, Childe?" Lumine told him, pulling out her sword. "Ready when you are, Lumine" he said thrilled, getting his sword out too as they flashed a smile at eagcother before charging into the fight.
Few minutes later after the quest....
"Pant.....pant...."
Childe leaned on his sword for support, kneeling down on the sand as he tried to catch his breath. Beads of sweat dripped down his face and body. His clothes were soaked from the sweat. "Maybe fighting in a desert isn't my strong suit" he commented, pulling on his shirt collar to relieve himself. The more he fought, the more the heat built up.
"Here" he heard Lumine's voice and saw her lending him a cold bottle of water with a look of concern. He gladly took it, gulping it down. The feeling of cold water going down his throat was a relief and he sighed satisfied. "Thank you. That was quite the fight. Tiring but exhilarating!" He added, wrapping his arm around her shoulder to pull her in a one sided hug. She was sweaty and tired too but was glad to see him enjoying himself so her arm wrapped around his waist.
"Come on. Let's get you somewhere to cool off" she told him as Paimon wrapped his other arm over her little shoulders and they teleported somewhere to rest and regain energy. Once they recovered and got their rewards, Lumine brought Childe to one of Nilou's shows to see it. She watched him be completely in awe at this as he never saw a dance like this before. The use of the dancer's hydro vision made the show more enchanting and unique.
Lumine turned to look at his face. The way his blue eyes shone in amazement like he was a child made her heart melt. She was glad to see him be happy. But then her thoughts broke when a hand held hers and she looked up at him. "Next time we should bring Teucer. I'm sure he would love this" he told her, smiling with warmth as she smiled back, nodding in agreement.
Once the show was done, the two were at a bench, just sitting in the cool quiet night while Paimon was fast asleep. "I have one more gift for you, Childe" Lumine said, getting his eyes away from the sky and to her.
"Really? More gifts for me? Lumine it amazes me that you brought me the best gift ever and yet you're still giving me more" he said surprised yet eager at how much an effort she gave in for his birthday. "What's the best gift?" She asked confused, tilting her head at him in a way that he found cute.
"Spending my birthday with you" he told her with a soft smile that made her look at him with surprise and blushed pink. "I....well...I did enjoy our time together" she said nervously, glancing down with a shy smile as she tucked a piece of yellow hair behind her ear.
Childe chuckled at her cute gesture as scooted closer to her. "Now what is this last gift of mine. As much as I would like to stay, I promised Teucer I see him on my birthday" he told her, waiting impatiently for this last present. "Well, first close your eyes" she told him and he did without questioning.
Then, Childe felt something soft and warm press to his lips that made his eyes pop open again. He gladly returned the kiss back to Lumine, pulling her close with his arms around her back as she held his face. They broke apart, staring in eachother's eyes for a while. "Happy Birthday, Childe" she told him fondly with a smile and her brown eyes shimmering at him that made his heart swell up.
Childe smiled at her lovingly, letting her head rest on his shoulder and his arm around her. "Shouldn't you be going?" She reminded him about his visit back home. "Let's just stay like this for a few minutes. I got time" he assured her, running a hand down her soft hair as they sat there together. The one favorite thing that Childe liked about his birthday was celebrating it with Lumine.
