CHAPTER IV

PEARL’s POV

Yesterday didn’t went as I planned , I thought I would get a job in the McAndrew’s but I failed . The owner of the rented house where I and my little boy lives also given me a ultimatum of one week to pay his dues otherwise I have to leave the house . I was in great need of a job right now . So today I planned to give two interviews in the local . My interviews didn’t went well that I expected . But they told me that they will get back to me if any position satisfying my qualification will arise .

The day was tiring , so while returning I took a seat near a park for some rest when sleep engulfed me . I don’t know for how long I was sleeping , but my sleep was broken by my phone’s ring and at that moment I realised that it is already dark and I have forgotten to pick Liam from the park where he generally visits after the school  .

I checked the phone , it was an unknown number , I thought it might be any of the recruiter’s call as they told me that they will get back to me . I received the call , only to hear Liam’s voice on the other side . Negative thoughts got started to fill in my head as I thought someone has kidnapped him or anything bad has happened with him .

I was panicking , so I asked him about his whereabouts when he assured me that he is safe and he is with some good uncle (according to him ) and moreover he mentioned that he is just outside our house . I was relieved that he is safe , I cannot loose him , he is very precious to me . I assured him that I will be there for him within 20 minutes .

My prediction was incorrect as it took me 28 minutes to reach to my home . I quickly crossed the road and ran towards our entrance and searched for Liam but could not find him . I again felt nervous , so I called that unknown number when Liam picked the call and told me that he is on the car just beside the porch . I went towards the porch and in the mean time he has already got down from the car with that unknown guy . As it was dark outside so I cannot see the unknown guy’s face clearly but I can sense my son is running towards me . I bend down to caress him , when he mentioned that how the unknown guy was with him form the park , he gave him food and he even helped him to do his home tasks .

I was very thankful to the person who took a good care of my son , to thank him , I raised my head and at that moment my breath stopped and heart started to beat faster than usual , it was Stuart McAndrew….

I cannot believe my eyes ,  he was there with my son and unknowingly our son  . By the look of it I can say he was also shocked after seeing me at this place . There was a staring contest between us when Liam suddenly spoke “ mommy can we go inside ? “ , “ yes baby but before that let me thank your uncle“ I replied . “ Can you stay here for a while if you don’t mind ?  I need to talk with you  “ I asked Stuart .
“ Okay . actually I also need to talk with you but before that please keep Liam inside as I need to talk with you alone  “ he replied.

Within no time  I and Liam got inside our home  and busied him by giving his favorite toys to play and went outside . I locked the door from outside and went towards Stuart’s car and found that he was as usual having his cigarette . I still remembers he always have his cigarette whenever he waits or in deep thought .

“ Your habit haven’t changed “ I said . “ Yeah , but this habit has changed into addiction , now it helps me to cure all my problems “ he replied .
“ I can see that , your lips have got more darker “ I replied and I was going to say something when light drizzling started .

“ I know our talk will take time and it’s drizzling, so if you don’t mind we can go inside of my car and have a talk “ he suggested . I agreed and he opened his car’s back door for me , I climbed and got my seat . He closed the door and climbed from the other side . Now we are sitting on the back side of his car with a small light glowing inside .
