Alchemist Cookie didn't sleep that night. She didn't see the need to. After all, she'd just end up exhausted from another nightmare again. She spent her time observing the crystal, writing notes, theories. She tried looking away for longer periods of time, but the glow didn't get brighter at all.
She could hear Vampire Cookie walking downstairs for about an hour. He'd usually go to sleep early. Why was he still awake? She didn't bother to go down and ask. It's not like she wanted to see him.
She didn't open her curtain from yesterday so she didn't realize when the sun rose. Just then, she heard her stomach rumbling. She got up and walked to her door.
She carefully closed it, as to not let any of the glow out of the room. Vampire Cookie could notice it and she still remembered that she did something illegal, that could get her in trouble. She walked downstairs, tripping on her feet. She eventually managed to get to the kitchen. She opened the fridge. She looked at it for a while before taking out a yoghurt. She closed the fridge, took a spoon and went to the dinning room.
She noticed Vampire Cookie sitting on one of the chairs, eating a sandwich. He kept staring at her since she entered the room. She ignored him and sat down to eat. She was halfway through her breakfast before she heard her brother's voice.
-'Ya look like a mess.'
He tried to sound as careless as usual, but she could hear that there was something wrong. Even tho, she didn't look at him. She kept staring down at her food.-'Says the hopeless alcoholic.' she groaned.
-'Rude.'She didn't respond.
-'Pancake Cookie came yesterday. He was wondering if you were feeling alright.'
No response.
-'So, are you feeling alright?'
She kept on eating her food, ignoring the question.
-'Hello?'
-'Can you stop talking? I'm trying to eat.'
-'No, I can't! You've been acting strange ever since you came back from your last supply refill! What's going on with you!?'Vampire Cookie sounded frustrated. That was new. Alchemist Cookie looked up at him.
-'What's wrong is that you keep bothering me! I'm trying to eat my breakfast here so why don't you just shut up!?'
She wasn't even surprised with her attitude anymore.
-'You call THAT a breakfast!?'
He asked, pointing at the half-empty, plain yoghurt with a spoon, sticking out of the container. Good for a snack but not for the most important meal of the day.-'Fine! You can go and eat your stupid sandwiches all day if you like, but I have no time for sitting around all day!'
She picked up her food and got up to leave, when Vampire ran up to her and jerked her hand. She dropped the yoghurt, spilling it all over herself. The spoon fell down with a sad sound of a wasted snack.
-'Are you insane!?'
She pushed him away, freeing her hand from his grasp. Before he could respond, she ran upstairs. She slammed the door shut before sighing. He was acting weirdly insufferable today. Before she got to approach her desk, she heard her door being quickly opened. She immediately turned around, her eyes widened in fear. She watched as Vampire Cookie started at her crystal.
-'What is that?' he asked.Alchemist Cookie charged at him with full force, pushing him outside. She quickly closed the door and barricaded it with a chair by her desk. She heard her brother banging on the door, yelling to let him in.
She rushed to get her bag from under the desk. She quickly packed her notebook, pencil and the gem into it. She ran up to her window, pushing the curtain away. She opened it before jumping out and running as fast as she could.
